They did a similar upgrade to the United Center's "clock" last year so it has a combo of high def screens and the standard 'light boards' they use for stats and such, it's pretty darn monstrous. But we all know that was done because the Chicago Bulls of the NBA share the arena; I'm sure Mr. Wirtz had nothing to do with it going in.
The 'ribbon boards' around the fronts of the seating bowls however were his idea, because it meant thousands of feet of increased area he could sell for advertising so that was done like five years ago

We always say they call it hte United Center because the place is as sterile and open as an airline hangar and has as many ads on it's wall as your standard airport terminal does. It's really quite disgusting...
