Using a .cfg Roster Update?

Post by J92Devils »

How do I use the roster update after I have downloaded it and saved it to my computer?

In case this matters, I downloaded the roster update from the download section of this site.

Which one?

There aren't any for EHM 2007 yet but there are quite a few for EHM 2005.

Which update did you download specifically?

Moved because all file related questions should be in this forum not the General forum

Check out the Announcement thread atop this forum: Guide: Extracting Files, Installing Addons, Using Databases for info on using alternate databases, the information/process remains the same for EHM 2007 as it was for '05 which is what the Guide is written for.

Sorry for the post in the wrong section.

I read the guide and I could not find the answer to what I should do with the roster update file. In the description of the file, it says it is a modification of the config file but I don't know what to do with it. To be specific, the file I downloaded can be found here:http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/dl ... ile_id=241

Yep, that's what I thought.

Isn't there a readme with that file?

I don't remember exactly where it goes because I have removed EHM 2005 from my computer since I installed it, but you need to replace the config file (forget what it's specifically named) with the new one in the download.

On Windows XP the symbol for a config (.cfg) file is a notepad with a gear (cog whatever the circle with teeth on it is) in front of it. Look for the one that shares a name with the one you downloaded and replace it.

Hope that helped as I found it to be pretty vague the way I described it... :dunno:

I finally decided to try and use WinRar to read the file and I saw that it did come with a read me. I read it and did what it said, but it still does not work. I was told to open a certain config file and copy and paste the contents of the download into the config file. However, I did all this and it still did not work. Do you know of any common mistakes I might have made?

I couldn't tell ya, really.

I got it the first time I tried.

Maybe someone else can help you, though... :dunno:

Did all of the players that were changed by the update work?

On mine I got some of the players to work but the last two players in the update file are not put on the Hurricanes. Am I misinterperting what the specific changes of the update file or am I just doing it wrong?

Is it because with the bottom two players you haven't set what team they're moving from? It says they're moving to the 'Canes but it doesn't say where they're coming from.

Shouldn't it be something like:

"FUTURE TRANSFER" "Cale" "Hulse" "ORIGINAL TEAM" "Carolina Hurricanes" 30 6 2006

Also, do you need to add the contract details too (e.g. wages and length of contract)? The same applies for the Woolley.

If a player is a free agent you still need to put the quotes with nothing inside since they have no current team, so that would be the problem with the Carolina players. They also need the contract terms. There is a 'key' of sorts at the top of the section showing the proper usage.

Okay, thanks for the info guys.

By the way, I did not change the update file at all. It is the same as when I downloaded it from the downloads section. I will use the key that you guys are talking about to properly format the last few players.

Those bottom 2 teams aren't on the 'Canes, they were tryouts during training camp.

Ah it's my file. The thing is that the two Canes players played in Canes on the orginal data and with this they become free transfers, as they are IRL (at least were). "Carolina" to "" means that from Carolina to free transfer.

However Korolyuk don't work. But look around on the boards as someone has made it right.

But most of the changes are already done in the 3.0.2-patch I think.
