Hire by their strengths and your needs?AngryDuck97 wrote:Guys, how correctly to choose the coaching staff?
You got the head coach and 5 assistant coaches.
So hire one for goalies, one for d-men and one for forwards at minimum.
Then, I'd usually go for all-round or extra on d-men and forwards.
What I've never quite been sure of is how to distribute the manpower and how to optimize it completely.
Also in regards to skating, conditioning, shooting and technically.

Re: Coaching staff
Adaptibility, Determination, and Tactics should be particularly higher for your Head Coach than assistants, while also possessing good coaching attributes. For me, an NHL level coach needs at least 10 in coaching goalies, 15 in coaching forwards and defensemen, 15 each in judging potential and ability,15 in adaptability and determination, and at least 12 in tactics, 12 in discipline, 12 in working with youngsters, 12 in motivating, and 12 in man management.
Of course you're not always going to be able to find a HC that fits those credentials, so at the minimum I'd look for a HC with high determination and adaptibility (15+) while also having decent judging and coaching attributes (10 - 15 on the scale). Working with youngsters should be considered more heavily if you're looking for a new head coach in the CHL and other minor leagues.

In my 300+ hours of playing I didn't notice that.

Yes, at least some Staff Attributes will change (and I think IIRC that Attribute change/development occurred early in their career, though they may or may not be "young" in terms of age)AngryDuck97 wrote:Do young coaches increase their skills?
Here's a few threads with additional information on the subject of Staff/Attributes...
- "EHM:EA Attribute testing - Staff" thread from September 2015 http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... attributes
- "the "underdatabase" - what it is and why IMO it's critical" thread from July 2016 (which has some references to Staff) http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... attributes
- "Non Player Attributes (Coaches, Physios, Scouts, GMs, etc)" thread from June 2012 (with a listing of Attributes and explanations of their meaning/relevance) http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... attributes
- "Coach ratings" thread from January 2017 http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... attributes
- "Coaching Style" thread from June 2015 http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... attributes
- "Staff development?" thread from February 2015 http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... attributes
FYI - from EHM07 to EHM1 there doesn't seem to be significant change in the way Staff function (so regarding Staff older information/explanations about EHM07 are still relevant with EHM1)
