Some Bug Reports

Post by Leafsdude »

I just started getting back into EHM:EA/1/2015 and I've noticed a few bugs. I'm not sure if it's just because I'm running an old save with an old roster pack (save was created mid-2019, rosters are TBL beginning of 2018-19, exact version I'm not sure of), but I've noticed a few bugs/crashes. None of them are game-breaking, so I'll start by posting it here.

1) Probably the biggest bug I've noticed: if you try to "export as" a permanent scouting trip after saving the first run, the game crashes. If you call the scout back, save it, and then hit cancel, it's fine, but still an error. I don't have a save for this I can upload right before the crash, but I'll upload one next chance I get and post it on the SI forums, but at least I can have it here to give others a heads-up. Update: I've uploaded a save and posted the error to the SIGames forum.

2) There's a bunch of errors to note in the tactics page:

a) clicking on PP1 and PP2 does not take you to "unit tactics" from the "set lines" like it does if you click any of the other lines.

b) 4-man ES lines are not used on the 3-on-3 OT, as it seems to just pick semi-random players (from what I can tell, it'll usually pick two random 5v5 ES forwards from your first line, and then select a random d-man from your second ES 5v5 line, but it's not always consistent on this).

c) The game seems to get really confused on extra attackers: if my first extra attacker is on the first line, the game will pick a random player not on the first line to play when the goalie is pulled, including a defenseman, regardless of who the second extra attacker is. If I put my the first attacker as a player not on the first line, the game follows it fine, including for any other line (ie: if the 2nd extra attacker is on the first line, and the 2nd line is put out, it'll properly play the 2nd attacker, if the first attacker is on the 2nd line).

3) A really old "bug" that goes back to NHL:EHM, but that I never really thought to point out: pulling your goalie can be a real pain in the butt when viewing in-game after key plays happen. If you have your goalie pulled and a goal is scored or a penalty is taken by either team, the goalie will go back in, and will not come back out until after the puck is dropped, no matter what you do. Plus, if you tell the game to pull the goalie during the skate to the faceoff, it will reset to not pull the goalie, meaning if you don't go to your tactics and pull the goalie after the puck is dropped to actually pull the goalie, he'll never leave.

4) Lastly, it appears that setting forward, defense and PP usage does not work as well as it used to. If you set to "two lines", it'll still play the 3rd and 4th lines for the same amount of ES icetime as it does if you set it to play "equal" minutes. I'm wondering if this is due to coaches, and therefore is not a bug, but I'm still curious if something has just broken on a recent update.

2, 3 & 4 seem to be consistent in all games, so you don't really need a specific save to see them in action.

I know that Riz is working on a major update already for sometime in the far future, so this might not be something anyone will get to any time soon, but I still figured to comment now so I don't forget sometime down the line. :-p

Yes, this one is annoying. Hopefully Riz will fix it for 1.5 or 1.6 :)
