Relegation and Pro-Status changing?

Discuss all aspects of editing the data and databases in EHM here. Have a question about the EHM Editor, EHM Assistant, editing the .cfg files, hex editing the .dat or .db files? Want to tweak the EHM exe file to change league rules/structure, start date etc? This is the place!

Relegation and Pro-Status changing?

Post by ideawithoutamind »

I'm discussing this with xEck29x on discord, but figured I'd bring it up incase anyone else has seen or knows why this may be happening specifically.

I have a 3 tier set of relegation leagues. All teams are professional status teams, with reputations between 8500-9500, regardless of which of the 3 leagues they are in (kind of randomized it a bit)

Master (Rep 19, Div 2, US/NA)
Diamond (Rep 18, Div 2, US/NA)
Platinum (Rep 17, Div 3, US/NA)

I've found after seeming several years to run some tests, everything seems to be working fine, but teams that have dropped from Diamond to Platinum have their professional statuses changed from Professional to Semi-Professional (on the team Info page). (also checking via EHMAssistant, their reps drop below 6000, but not sure if the status change is due to the relegation, or because of the rep drop, they all just coincidentally have been relegated from Diamond to Platinum)

I have some saves and my in-progress DB uploaded if anyone wants to take a deeper look as well.

Relegation and Pro-Status changing?

Post by Midas »

I can't say for sure, but as this was a ten-man branch (now one haha) of the proprietary model of the FM20XX series ('07 in particular), it's quite likely that this is auto-set by the game itself. Relegation is not something that's a central focus of EHM, and the communities who play relegation leagues (namely the SHL) don't post here enough to give us some sense of whether this is an occurrence for them as well.

I have a few questions to troubleshoot your specific problem. First off, reputation is good, but I believe (I have not checked in sometime, so don't hold me to it) there's a way to properly set the type of league (professional, semi-pro, amateur, etc.). Make sure that's right. Secondly, check your subdivisions and conferences to make sure this is also consistent with other pro-rel leagues like the SHL. It might a good thing to look closely at your league and the SHL actually to see if you can line things up more. Thirdly, have a look at this link. This is in an FM forum but it's for FM 2008, which again EHM draws a lot on; you can see that this happens with a lot of relegated teams in other leagues as well. It's actually one of the funnest parts of FM, taking some minnow from nowhere and riding them to the tops; it may even be hardcoded into this game, not saying it is, but possibly as relegation is one of those things that most North Americans don't consider and afaik that's Riz's primary audience here.

Great question though, look forward to other answers from more knowledgeable people.
