EHM 2005 editing

Hi guys. So i have been trying to play my old ehm 2005 game for a while now. And beeing really bad with computers i finally managed to install it on virtualbox.
Now i want to edit saved game file, but cant. I have uncompressed the save files, bad cant change names of either staff or players.
I can change birthdates, but not names. this is via eastside uk saved game editor nhl ehm 2005.
why cant i change names of the players?
