Help prepare for Challenge #8

Post by Konstantinov16 »

I want to be ready for the 8th challenge... could someone give me some pointers? Also, how does the salary cap work for the challenge?

Well, in Challenge 7 we had a salary cap of $36M. Of course, in the game the team's budget was more. We just had to get our salary down to $36M for the challenge or get penalty point in the challenge scoring. Also, the salary figure we use is the Averaged Club Salary.

There hasn't been anything announced about Challenge 8 yet. If you could get through your first 20 games by Feb 21st, you should join in on Challenge 7. This one has been pretty fun.

Thanks! I will try that! Has there been any discussion as to what the 8th Challenge will be?

not yet, we've only just started the 7th challenge so there won't be any news about it in the near future

K, thanks. Is there anything else I should know? Also, how heavy is the competition? What I mean is... how good are the people that play the challenge games?

Yeah, there is pretty strong competition. It doesn't matter how good your are or not though. It's friendly competition. If you're not that good, you might learn something. If you are good, you might teach somebody else something. The important thing is getting in there and having fun.

If you're curious to see how things are going so far, look at the Challenge Stat Recording thread and the Challenge 7 Discussion thread in this forum. You can also see the current standings if you click on the Challenge Stats button up on the TBL title bar.

Aw man!

Turns out I won't be able to participate in this challenge. My computer took a rubbish and is now being repaired. I think I might just decomission it and buy a new one.

We haven't even picked a team for Challenge 8, nevermind started it. I think you've got time.

As for Krieger99's advice to trade for Marleau... it's very sound advice. He tears it up.
I'm almost of the opinion that we need to add another rule to the next challenge. No trading for Marleau! It makes it too easy.

maybe if it's a rule to hide the players traded for, stat entrys up until the first deadline (the 20 game mark) could be hidden.

That's actually a very good idea. That way, nobody will copy anyone else.

I forgot!

I have a question. I think I read somewhere that the 7th challenge used the update 3.0.2 Will the 8th challenge use the last update 3.0.3?

I'd say it's a pretty safe bet. TBL has usually used the latest patched version of EHM for challenges. The only reason I could see for them not doing it is if there was some new problem that popped up from that patch and that's certainly not the case here.

So any idea when the new challenge will be up or when we´ll start deciding on the team? I´ve got enough spare time now to participate again, so I really hope we could get this thing up and running, looking at how the Kings 82 match deadline passed two weeks ago.

Sorry for the double post (still no edit button?), but forgot to mention that the 3.0.4 update is now out, so I suggest we use that instead.

With the recent downtime I haven't really thought about when the next challenge will be, we will definitely be using patch 3.0.4(I'll change the rules in due course) and I may wait until the TBL:DB is out before starting it.

I'm all for waiting for the new db. It's going to make things so much better. I wouldn't want to start a new challenge without it. Then again, if D88 says it's going to be another 2 months before it's ready, we could crank out a couple seasons of a challenge in that time.

Is there ANY ETA for the next challenge ?

I'm not asking for a certain date, but are we talking about days, weeks or months here ? :)
