I am trying to make some new skins and so far I have noticed a couple of things, both of which seem to be associated with the .col file. One is that when you first load the game (with your new skin already loaded - from previous session) and you go into the schedule section, the Home and Away button (label buttons) are set back to the default skins colors. These are the parts that change the colours...
# calendar panel home colour (for key)
92 0 0 255
# calendar panel away colour (for key)
93 255 0 0
Also, sometimes when I load the game (again with my skin) the program loads the default .col file settings and ignores my skins .col file.
I was just wondering, for those who have been playing around with skins, if you have noticed similar things that happen to your skins.
Thanks.

Hiya rookier! First of all welcome to The Blue Line!
I haven't actually done any .col changes with 2007 yet, as the ones I usually do were adopted for the official .col this time around
I never had an issue with the .col not being used when I had my skin selected with '05 though. How do you have your files set up? I also wonder if there could be a problem with your .col file itself, it should be a plain text file. Those would be I'd guess the first things to check for problems.
I haven't had the time to work on 'converting' my 05 skins over to 07 yet, so really all I've tested out are the 'skin elements' replacements for the titlepanel/sidebars etc.
CatchUp has been working on a skin but I'm not sure how far along he is.

I've been going through your guide to skinning '05 and comparing that to the folders I've got for '07. I've also got a changelist on the go.
On the main topic, I haven't made any .col changes so I have no idea about this.

Welcome to TBL, rookier!
