Challenge 8: Team Poll
Please pick your choice for the challenge 8 team from the following:
Phoenix Coyotes:
A team that always seem to find the bottom of the conference in my games, plus a bugdet of $42.1mil will be hard to reduce
New Yersey Devils:
A good team with good players, your challenge here will be to reduce their salaries to the $36mil budget. Which highly paid players will you sacrifice to reduce the salaries from $47.1mil and still take them to glory?
Toronto Maple Leafs:
A complete overhaul is required here to take the Leafs to glory and get rid of their overpaid d-men. They start off with $42.6mil total salaries
New York Rangers:
Another team that need a bit of an overhaul, reducing their budget from $42.6mil could also be a challenge

So all teams will be give a TBL budget of $36M? All the choices are interesting but I went with the Rangers. There are a few guys there with big salaries that will need to be dumped. I think the Leafs would be better suited for our long term, 5 year challenge. They really don't have many great prospects, so you'll really have to think ahead. The Rangers have a mix of highly paid players and a few good young stars. You could try to trade away most of your big names but will your young guys be ready to make the jump.

I voted for the Leafs as well.
42.6 mil is the current payroll and Sundin is an untradeable 7.6 of that. Then you've got McCabe (5.75), Kaberle (4.25) and Kubina (5.00) for another 15 mil. $22.6 million dollars on those 4 alone! That is going to force some creative trades - which is what I love to see in the Challenges!

I went ahead and picked the Maple Leafs. I still enjoy watching them from time to time on TV or even playing them in games.
Needless to say, when it comes down to it, I'm a Leafs fan.
Anyway, I think it would be fun to take them over. They have plenty of players that you can trade for those who are just as good if not better and they are cheaper.
Plus, I want to take part in my first challenge ever.

Yup. That's why I went with the NY Rangers for this one. The Maple Leafs would be much better for a 5 year challenge. They really don't have a lot of good prospects in the system so you'd have to draft and develop them. I have a feeling the Leafs won't be as fun for a short 1 or 2 season challenge.kennec wrote:how many seson will challange be? i would vote for male leafs if long challange

It's actually not that hard to get a decent team together in a short time, even with the Leafs. Hell, a lot of teams rate Hal Gill or Nik Antropov at ****JVanderpool wrote:I never thought about it being a short session. I know if you did take the Maple Leafs over, it would be a big haul to get them doing anything in a few years. Especially with what you might get in return.

They would be more fun in a long challenge, I agree, because of the aforementioned lack of any hot prospects.
