TBL's Official New Uniforms and Logos thread

Post by getzlaf15 »

Well, we've already seen the Capitals, Bruins and the Blue Jackets at the draft day, and i really like them,

I have been informed by a couple of people that logos for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the San Jose Sharks' due to be announced on the 24th july, not sure bout the lightnings, and that a certain group of people who created both of these logos have been leaked,

Just wondered what people thought, i kinda like the sharks, and i'm unsure about teh lightning's, thoughts please???

Tampa Bay's new logo

San Jose's

Mod note: I added 'NHL' to your title to make it a bit more descriptive. -CatchUp

Wow, to be honest, I can't stand either of them. :thdn:

The font on the Tbay logo looks cheap and the Sharks have been anime'd! :-o

The Lightning one kind of looks "bleh". It's just a more boring version of the one they already had. The Sharks one has the same basic concept but I like what they've done with the shark. It looks mean and there's something about the lines in it that seems heavier. It works for me.

The Tampa one doesn't seem to be loading for me, but the Sharks one did.

And I have to admit, I think it's just another cliché in the logo world. ...A flashily drawn animal lookin' all mean and tough.

Hmmm...interesting to say the least...

I do kinda like the Lightning's new logo set...not that spectacular, but it's an upgrade from what they had...

The Sharks? Not too shabby, IMO. Only thing I don't like about it is the removal of silver and the addition of orange/yellow in it's place. Other than that, it's not a totally horrid update.

I'm kicking myself for not getting a pic of it, but when I was at the Draft in Columbus last month, the Senators had something new...it was the Centurion from the red and black jerseys, but just altered a bit...didn't look too bad..

If I can find a pic of it, I'll try and link it over....

EDIT: Knew it was out there somewhere...here it is:

Now the Tampa logo is loading for me... I'm kind of neutral on it. It's nothing special or meaningful, but that's what also adds a bit to it for me.

I don't like any of those new logo's. I wonder if Detroit will ever get a new logo.

thanks jwh5875, thats a really small difference, but its a difference,

i agree joe, detroits is boring, ive never understood why u have a wheel on your logo??? i mean the red n the wings are obvious, but a wheel :dunno: im confused. lookin at ur previous logos, it has changed only twice since 1932, and that is still miniscule changes

well they cant make it a complete red wing because then it will look to much alike with phillys logo.

and i think that the tampa bay logo's are bad. way to cheap looking. i liked the current logo more it is more modern.
and the sharks logo is fine by me.

Detroit is very popular for it's vehicle manufacturing(Hence it's nickname of "Motor City"). So, I believe that's where the wheel comes in.

I definitely don't like what Tampa Bay has come up with for their new logo. It doesn't look much different what they have already, but it also in my opinion looks worse.

The font is definitely cheap looking and the little lightning logo itself doesn't look all that great. It looks like something you would see on one of those cheap morning shows when they hit the news section of the telecast.

Now for the Sharks, the logo doesn't even differ that much from the older one either. It looks more updated and maybe a little bit more animated, but all in all, no big change. I guess it will do, but I like to see teams come out with a little bit of color on their new stuff.

The Senators logo isn't much from what they were already using. I mean, it is cleaned up a little, but not much of a change honestly. Still the same as it was before.

I honestly wish that more teams would start updating themselves. I know that Detroit has used that logo for years, but why not come out with a little change? Doesn't have to be the main logo for now, but maybe just a nice alternate jersey like some other teams tend to make these days.

Although, I will admit that one of the most horrific logo type things I have seen came out of Dallas. You all remember that bull looking thing that had the nasty colors on it?

I couldn't stand to see them wear that or to even see anybody buy it.

I think the NHL has done away with third jerseys haven't they? Image

Back to these new logos, the changes are so small as to be pointless in my opinion - the best new unis so far (by a long way) are Washington's.

I don't now that they got rid of them completely, because I believe that the Wild, Senators, and many others still have those set of jerseys on their team.

Most of the time it is just them going back to a simple old logo or bringing in something new.

I could be wrong, but I think some teams in the NHL still have some.

Sorry, but if ANY of the Original Six touch their logos (other than the Rangers with the Statue of Liberty thing...which I bet won't be around with the new unis, unless on the shoulder).....I WILL KILL THEM ALL!

Detroit is classic, Chicago is the best there is, Boston is awesome, Rangers rock, Leafs suck (which is perfect) and Montreal is Montreal perfect!

There should be a law made that no original sports franchises in any league can change their jersey or logo EVER!

Everyone will be getting rid of 3rd unis for next season. Each team will have a road white and a home dark jersey, and I believe they can choose which unis they use for those next season...BUT ONLY 2. Guranteed.

Amen, brother!

We have to preserve our historic icons, not jazz 'em up to our 'hip dayz.' Otherwise, we'll end up with teams drawing a uterus and calling it a bull's head, or teams drawing a slug and calling it a buffalo's head. ;)

i kinda see your point, but if teams didn't change their logos, the game would still be as it is in 1908, i think that the original logos should be used elsewhere, maybe as shoulder patches?

but as far as advancements in the sport goes, if we didn't have these kind of updates, the game would be boring and would never change, and a bit of change can help a sport

woooo, 100th post! :-D

Good...Don't change the logos. Then the game will be back where it was when it was at its best. Before these darn whippersnappers (who are all older than me) and jerks and people who look like Freaking Sesame Street characters who can barely count to 20 got ahold of it. Good. darn good.

No...original logos stay where they are. NO FREAKING MORE CARTOON DUCKS! Jesus, young punks...gargggge.....

The history of this game is more important than the game today. Learn it, live it, love it!

Okay...I am widdled here...settle down.....and then I look and see that stupid bloody movie goalie mask in Getzlaf's post..ARGhhhh....NO LOGO CHANGES, cept for CARTOON DUCKS! (Getzlaf-Not mad at you here, mad at logos)

Dude--honestly, the game is not boring because of logos, the game is boring because of stupidity. People used to say that you should not put helmets on players, because they will lose their identifying characteristics...like Guy Lafleur and his hair flying. Well....I can still spot Afinogenov from a mile away even though he looks like a robot.

Jerseys need to be left alone. Two sets, 1 home, 1 road. And it should be the other way around than it is right now.

Should Man United and the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys change their logos? Should the Cubs? Cause most of those in the past 50 years have not....and they ain't boring. Whippersnappers....no logo changes. History my friend...history....need to remember.
