How do you bring an extinct team back

Post by spacey »

I was looking through the editor and found teams from the IHL in it and other teams that are now gone. What do I need to do in the editor to get the teams in the game.

Say I wanna bring in the Whalers to the NHL, what to I need to do so I can get a schedule and everything in the game.

Thanks

I've never actually done it, but it looks like you'll just have to fill in the teams info(on the 'details' and 'club info' tabs) to get them into a league(remembering to take-out another team from that league, of course).

The schedule gets automatically created, as long as you keep the same number of teams in the league.
- If you add one team, you need to remove another.

First of all, you need to clear one team - the team you want to remove. Do it by clearing the fields "Nation", "Division", "Other Division" in the team details in the editor. Try to remember this information, and input it in the details of the team you want to resurrect. Save, and you're done!

I did this for Spartak Moscow in the TBL 1.2 update, and it works like a charm :joy:

Just don't edit too much and always remember to test it and to save your progress. I was trying to do the european superleague to replace Finnish three divisions and was doing fine, until I tested it and it all crashed :) So all work went into nothing, basicly, since I wasn't able to track the error.

Thanks to this thread, I've decided to start a game where Nashville is moved to Winnipeg(like they should be, in my opinion)... of course bringing life back to the Jets franchise, as well as creating a fierce Liverpool vs Everton style rivalry between Phoenix and Winnipeg.

I did it just like Lidas said, and it's working great... Nascarville is out, and Winnipeg is "errorlessly" in, so far.

TIP: If anyone ever does pretend to really relocate a franchise, remember to also move the players and staff to the new team. Sounds obvious, but I almost forgot to do it.

I alomst had it then, I forgot to take another team out.

Do I have to delete a division if I wanna make a new league? Like I want to bring back the IHL...would I have to take out the OHL or one of the others?

Yes, you'll have to stick to modifying current leagues. But beware, rules and league structure is hard-coded(thus the need for you to take a team out when bringing a new one in)... so your new league can really only get as far as a being a current league with new teams.

I'm well experienced at this, the Jets, Whalers & Nordiques have all returned, as have the former London Knights & Manchester Storm in the UK league - and thanks to B. Stinson's fab graphics it's like they never left...
