Free Agent rejection
Hi guys, I did a search for this so I apologize if I missed it, but I had a question regarding getting snubbed by free agents. Is there anything to the list of teams that is shown when you lose out on a potential free agent?
For instance, it would say something like Marian Hossa signs with X team. He turned down offers from 5 other teams including the Flyers, Islanders and Oilers.
Is it a random occurrence of the teams listed, or is that based on how close the player came to signing with said team? I'm just trying to gauge how much $$$ to throw at some of these players, especially when they sign elsewhere for less than i've offered them. Granted I am the Islanders, so it's not a huge draw, but I did get Hossa and Lecavalier to come aboard.
Cheers.

Yeah... thats pretty weak.... I hate when they accept unreasonably low offers.... if someone is going to overpay, they should be rewarded and/or have to pay the price....On the subject of Free Agent Rejection............ I have just started my blog with the Yotes and offered Scatchard £1 million a year. He went to Detroit for £496k per year!!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!

He wouldn't accept an offer that is less than half of what has been offered to him by a different team in real life though, unless he's had a looong history in that team and does it because of loyalty.Tasku wrote:I don't find it all that terrible. Detroit is way cooler than Yotes, and he wanted to play there. Money can't buy you love.

The same in most of my games as well. Detroit some how manage to end up with a lottery pick every season, sign the best free agents but still continue to suck???Hypnotist wrote:This is where team reputation comes into play. As well as player loyalty. I'm not sure if the AI players taking Cup contention into consideration. But I'm fairly sure that it does since in many of my games Detroit seems underperform by a large margin and then can't get any decent FAs to sign.
I have noticed that once when I played with Florida who I suspect have a low reputation I managed to get to the cup final one season and the next season almost all the players I offered contract to wanted to sign with me. I had to be the one canceling deals
