Contract Offer/Player Status

Hi, just a quick question............ when you offer a player a contract as, for example, a core player, but he want more and you can only give him that by making him a Key player............how can you change the status again?

I know it seems to stay on the original status for ages. Any quick ways?

I don't think there is any way other than to wait a couple weeks and try again. I think there's like a 2 week limit on changing player status or something of that nature.
