Questions About Photoshop Editing

Didn't really find a topic based on Photoshop editing so I thought I could go ahead and start one. I have learned how to do most of the editing with it myself but I am still stuck of a few others and looking for an expert on the program. First off I was wondering why nobody has made a tutorial by using Photoshop showing some step by step procedures in downloading logos, resize them removing the background and make it transparent with the program to make them fit them into the game so they show properly. Anyways my important question I need answered is how you create a white boarder aroung a team logo so it stands out on a dark background using Photoshop. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated thanks.
