2009 NHL Playoffs Discussion Thread

Post by BaerXIII »

I'm just not sure if anyone else had noticed this.

Along with the misspellings on the cup (which is also their sides) but messing up the score like that is just atrocious.

MOD NOTE: I've renamed this thread to cover all discussion of the 2009 NHL playoffs. - B72

I moved it.

Back on topic:

Go Caps! :-D

I might just have to stay up to watch this today. It'll be 2 am here, and my days have been full of hockey since friday: two games per day, plus the occasional NHL game.

I'm eager for round 2 to come. The only drawback to the Bruins sweeping the Habs is that I'm without a Bruins game for about a week now.

Round 2 is going to be interesting. Bring on the Red Wings, we have something they don't... A good goalie. :-D

The Capitals are at 32.9 second to win the seven and final game agaisnt the New-York Rangers, want an awesome game we have tonight :-) and thissssssssssss is it!!!!! Hell yeah!!! Won 2-1 and 4-3 the series! Three straight win wow! A big thanks to Semen Varlamov who past a old Theodore to help the team win this series. Great goal too by Sergei Fedorov to take the lead. Nice job guys you deserve it! :-D :groupwave:

The Rangers suck, Avery was the only player who played tonight. Just 16 shots on goal in a game 7. They didn't deserve to win this series. Simeon Varlamov did. Fair play to Washington though.

What an end to the Canes-Devils game. 2 Goals in the final 1:20. Tim Gleason, play of the year to help assist the tying goal! As much as i wanted an overtime game tonight, both were great games!

Thats not fair, Lundqvist played a hell of a game for the Rangers just no one in front of him played. And that Devils-Canes finish was absolutley crazy.

Helluva thing with those two game 7's tonight I expected the solid goaltending to be better in Jersey tonight rather then in Washington. Not really looking forward to the Cap's second round match-up thought Varlamov is playing extremely well for a 21yo rookie but I don't think he can keep it up with the fast and high scoring play of the Pens :-( .

About the Bruins, i wonder how well they'll perform in round 2... They've faced absolutely zero opposition in round one and didn't even need to be on a playoffs rythm. On their side, the Canes are clearly on the playoffs rythm! It might make the difference and/or balance the fact that the B's have fresher legs... We'll see...

On the West front, what a matchup between the Ducks and the Red Wings! Stanley Cup Champion 2007 vs Stanley Cup Champion 2008! It's gonna be fun to watch!

The Bruins had opposition in the first round. The Habs were in it for the first two games. Then in the last two games, the Habs were in it early and then seemed to give up. Of course, the Hurricanes are coming off a serious high, so they're going to be pumped.

I do think the time off will have helped the Bruins. I know Chara's wife just gave birth to their first child (a daughter... and she was normal sized, unlike her father). I'm sure the impending birth of his first child might've been a bit of a distraction. So that's out of the way. Tim Thomas was sick. Plus you've got various guys with bumps, bruises, cuts, and all that. They were able to heal that. To make sure that they didn't get out of hockey mode, Claude Julien was running practices every day and they had a scrimmage game yesterday (if I heard correctly). I'm sure they'll be ready for them!

Well consider with the Bruins that the first round was a pre-season kind of series. Not alot of effort which is fortunate cause you don't need alot of effort when the other team puts in 0 effort.

I gotta say that the 'Nucks were lucky to win tonight after blowing a 3-0 lead. They stopped playing in the 3rd period and it was only the Blackhawks' overexuberance that saved them. Luongo I have to say wasn't great in the 3rd, but a win's a win and I hope the team learned its lesson....
