[OLD] 4: Challenge Official Scoring & Second Season Info

Post by Minstrel »

----------------------------------------------
OFFICIAL SCORING FOR CHALLENGES
----------------------------------------------

While using the GLR recording system there will be two bonus periods per season, year end bonuses, playoff bonuses and "negative bonuses" for payroll cap violations.

If there are additional seasons recorded, there will addtionally be Team Improvement Bonuses for the team that has improved the most from Challenge x.1 to x.2 in major indicator stats. Those will only factor at the end of a second season so I'll save those details for later.

First Seasons Scoring:

The leader in the following categories after games 20 and 60 will get three points, second place two points, third place one point:

Most Goals, Most Assists, Most Points, Most PIM, Highest +/-, Highest Power Play Percentage and Highest Penalty Killing Percentage.

After Game 82 bonus points will be added based upon the team total stats. The top team will gain 10 points, the second team 8, the third 6, the fourth 4 and the fifth 2 for leaders in the following categories:

Teams with the most overall:

Wins, Total Points, Goals Scored, Power Play Percentage, Team PIM, Penalty Kill Percentage

And the teams with the least overall:

Losses, Goals Against,

Playoff Bonuses:

1 point for every two playoff wins, with 3 points additional bonus for winning the Stanley Cup; making it also the Holy Grail of TBL Challenges as it is worth eleven points (16 wins = 8 points + 3 bonus points). This number will be rounded up (see potential tiebraker rules below).

Over Budget Points Penalties Per Quarter:

1.1 to 2 million over: -2 points
2.1 - 3 million over: -5 points
3.1 - 4 mil over: -10 points
4.1+ over: -20 points (a -20 will also DQ you from the next of the two in-season bonus points)

UPDATE FOR CHALLENGE 7 - You must now comply with the specified TBL budget, this is $36mil. The same penalty rules apply

UPDATE FOR EHM 2007 The finance views have changed since 2005 the figure for budget that should be used is the one that displays when you offer a trade to a team. This is also listed on your Finances page as "Est. Averaged Club Salary (p/a)". The 'Total' amount is now total for your entire roster so we'd be forcing people to slash salaries unnecessarily if we asked people to get that number down to the Board Budget.

When calculating bonus points all tied players at a position get the points for that position. If three players end up sharing a lead over all the rest of the challengers with 40 wins a piece they would each get 1st place bonus points.

Overall leader between teams tied in Challenge points will go to the first team to hold a lead over the other in categories in this order: most playoff wins, most games won, least losses, most goals scored.

All admin decisions are final.

Player awards in the form of trophies and titles given the top teams remain on your profile for two months. Feel free to at that point add the info to your signature for bragging rights. Challenge winners will forever have their accomplishments recorded in the new Blue Line Hall of Fame for all to see!

Second Seasons and Beyond: Scoring and Rules

-------------------------------------------------------

All rules/regulations used for the initial season of a Challenge remain in effect for second seasons of Challenges and on. You must continue to play your game under all current rules.

Some differences/clarifications:

Draft Picks The rule about trading only picks from the upcoming draft remains in effect at all times! It means exactly what it says, if you haven't done the 2006 draft you can only trade 2006 picks. Once you have completed the 2006 draft then you can trade only your picks for the 2007 draft as it is now the upcoming draft. Simple enough?

Finances: TBL Budget You are also still required to stay within one million dollars US of the TBL budget, currently $36mil. This will be the same for all people regardless of what their board sets. This budget is increased to $38mil for the 2nd season of the challenge.

With your first set of stats (Games 1-20) of your second (and each following) season you must again post a screenshot of your Finances page to confirm what your figure is. This will be recorded at GLR and team finance penalties for your season will be based upon that figure.

Bonus Points Setup In-season and year end bonuses work the same way as for a first season challenge. The difference is that there will be extra year end bonuses for teams showing the most improvement over their first season stats in major categories. These will be scored in the same manner as the the in-season bonus points as teams in first place will get three points, second place two points, third place one point:

Teams with the most improvement over previous season's:

Wins, Total Points, Goals Scored, Power Play Percentage, Team PIM

And the teams with the most improvement in recording the least:

Losses, Goals Against, Penalty Kill Percentage

This is just to encourage people who might have had a rough first season to keep working on their teams to improve them. 8-)

:minty: Needless to say teams found to be 'tanking' a first season to clean up in the next season's improvement points will be excluded completely from any second season bonus points. They may even be disqualified and/or excluded from future Challenges. We count on people playing their games honestly in the spirit of competition.

As for those who don't play within the Rules... don't waste our time. We know this game inside and out, and even if you don't know it the game records every single move made by both human and computer controlled teams, and that info can be requested of any Challenge GM at any time. Anyone who has given us enough grounds to doubt their stats will simply be removed from the Challege system permanently. Those actually proven to be cheating will also be banned.

Not to mention above this we also feel that you've been punished enough by life... and by having to come to the grips with the realization that you are just that pathetic that you have to cheat to "win" a game with no prizes played via what is, in essence, an anonymous forum where nobody has met or even live within hundreds of miles of each other. It's quite the item to put on your Big List of Proud Lifetime Accomplishments.
