Playing EHM in Finnish? For study purposes...

Post by joe-max »

Hi guys,

I was wondering, whether there is a possibility to play EHM in Finnish. :-k I know that there had been a retail version in Finland and that the game is quite popular there, so I hoped there was also a version including the Finnish language. My version only offers English, German, Swedish and French I think.

The reason is that I'm trying to learn the Finnish language at the moment, but back here in Germany I do not have the motivation to fight through Aku Ankka and Muumi books. I need something I'm really interested in, that would make learning so much easier - and EHM would just be the perfect solution.

Can anyone help? Kiitos!

Lazion was doing Finnish language mode, but he stopped it. I don't know/remember why.

P.S. Why you are studying Finnish? It's not very useful language out of Finland.

Mmmmh... that's a pity. Now I have to look for something else. Do you happen to know any computer games that come in Finnish (other than children's games)? Playing would be a nice change to studying books.

I want to learn it, because I have been to Finland many times and it is about time that I learned the language properly. Well, and the fact that my wife is Finnish might have to do with it as well... ;)

OK, Try THIS game. It's very good ice hockey management and it's free. Press "Lataa MHM 2000" link.

Thanks a lot, I will give it a try. If you remember any other games, please let me know. It doesn't have to be a hockey game, could be anything as long as the ingame-text is Finnish.

There's a finnish version of the Sims 3 available.
You can also get EA sports NHL-games, those can be played in finnish (in game menus and play-by-play).
You might have to order those from finland though.

You might also want to check out a couple of websites:
jatkoaika.com - finnish hockey site, news and articles on the finnish leagues and some decent articles about NHL too
blogit.hs.fi/nieminen/ - finnish NHL blog, this one's pretty good in my opinion

Pro Evolution Soccers have Finnish language too. I have PES 5 on Playstation 2 and there's Finnish language.

And NHL-games have Finnish language, like "rottamies" said.

Thanks for all the help. Sims is not a bad idea at all, at least I would learn everday language and not only hockey terminology; Sims 2 should do it, however.

PES sounds great, I haven't played it for 3 years, would be about time. As for the NHL games, I only play on PC and have heard and read that the last versions for PC have been pretty naff, so I'm not sure whether they are worth the money. Which year ist the best?

I won't have to order, as I visit Finland every few months (my wife wants to see her family occasionally - and her mökki). Her brother comes for christmas thsi year, I guess I would have and idea for a christams gift that he could bring...

I play EHM 2007 in swedish even though it has some bad translations, but still good enough for me! ;)

I don't wanna play finnish ehm, cause i don't like finnish language in games. I wanna learn English in games and so on. But that doesn't mean that you can't make it. You can make Finnish langugage to ehm, but i'm not going to play it. But maybe somebody want to.. so it's better than somebody makes finnish ehm.

Well, you don't have to speak, just to read and understand. Although not all the Finns I met spoke English very well, but they certainly all understood everything. Anyways, I guess I will go for PES and try this MHM game. Thank you for your help!
