I don't know if it's really off topic but it might be a question worthy of it's own thread. It could be an interesting discussion.

Okay, I split the old posts into a new topic and at the same time Batdad was starting the new topic. So I've merged the two threads. So now we've got one thread. Who would you start with?

Malkin. Size, skill, wants to be better than Ovechkin. He's got the fire. :joy:

Are we taking contract into consideration or just the player? This is actually a very difficult question.

I want to be a homer and go with Chara but I'm not positive. In Chara you've got your defensive backbone, size, grit, a booming shot, and a lead-by-example type of captain. Then again, an outstanding goalie can be huge. Or what about that big center?

Sure Ovechkin could be a logic choice in a team. But for starting an building up around, i prefer to take a complete player ( like Batdad take Richards ) than a big scorer like Ovechkin, but i would pick him in second or third place. :-p

Lets not start a who is better Richards or Ovi to start a team.

EVeryone gets their say, and all is good...I mean I sure would not sneeze at Ovi. Just I love what Richards brings to a team.

Richards is the best two way player in the game today alongside Pavel Datsuyk, but OV has the ability to change a game that no one else has.

You need to start with D. Chara or Pronger or Neidermayer.

Don't mention Pronger please. He is too old now, plus he is an idiot, taking stupid penalty. Replace him by Phaneuf or an healty Eric Johnson ( though maybe too young for leadership and experience )

Start with the backbone: a goalie that can pull a team

Henrik Lundqvist or Ryan Miller

I think a good goalie is a key role so either Lundqvist or Miller, like Lakrisal.

I think the most important role is defense so I would like to start with good defensman and solid defence prospect,so.....Victor Hedman together with Eric Johnson.....

Ya, ya, I'm fine with that. I thought that we could pick anyone, but if I was looking at youth it would have to be either Erik Johnsson or Marc Staal.

If you were building a team around 1 player now, would you want somebody that is as old as Pronger or Neids?
