No 'Edit' Button

Post by Systemfel »

I've noticed there's no 'Edit' buttons on this forum. I think it'd be good to have one in case you'd have to change something in your post.

seems that the forum doesn't like you. :dunno:
to me it shows the edit buttons next to the 'quote' buttons on the top of my postings. :-p
sure that you were logged in, when you looked for the button? :-?

Hmm. It seems there's no 'Edit' button in the Challenge Forum...because there's definitely one in this one. :-k

That is correct. The settings can be changed for each forum and the Challenge Forum has been created as a no edit forum. I was a little late to set the settings after the initial frenzy of getting everything set up but it was always intended to be a no-edit.

I first used the no-edit concept for our Fantasy Drafts so that people couldn't post picks, change them later and claim that we had to compensate for them. It's a "keep ya honest" concept. 8-) While we shouldn't really need it since as I've mentioned before we have awesome users. With new users as the site builds we may not know as much about, as well as competetive human nature being what it is the no-edit is simply there just as a safety net.

I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause but it is not a site issue, it's a choice. It is the same choice you will notice SI's own forum has made being no edit as well. It's a compromise; not exactly one I like either as we like to run a friendly "this is a community" site. However, just like how detailed and obnoxious the Challenge rules themselves are, it is something that needs to be done and will not change any time soon.

I can assure everyone though that we will only use non-edit forums when that forum is competition related; everywhere else you will have the convenience of editing posts. :)

This is one of the reasons I have been repeating to obnoxious degree in the rules threads that if you have any questions post to the Questions thread first and that you will only get one chance blah blah bad cop blah. I had actually spelled it out in all caps in this part of the Recording Instructions thread but I felt bad enough being that much of a "bad cop" about it already and didn't want to sound like that much of a tyrant:
:minty: WARNING!! Improperly recorded stats will result in disqualification from bonus points which would make it near impossible to do well. You get exactly ONE chance per Challenge to record your stats correctly, NO EXCEPTIONS. :minty: If you have a question :-? ask first!

To further repeat this to make it as clear as possible: After game forty you will post stats only for games 21-40, after game 60 you will post stats only for games 41-60. At the end of the season you will post stats only for games 61-82 plus reporting your playoff wins total.

We've provided more than adequate instructions for doing this; so there will be no second chances. :dunno:
