Weird Fantasy Draft result

Post by bobdude42 »

So, I just did a fantasy draft with the new Lidas database 2.1 (thanks!!!) and the first two picks were quite surprising!

I was expecting to see the Crosby-Ovechkin-Malkin to go 1-2-3, but no!

The first pick was Stamkos! So in a way it makes sense. He probably has a huge potential and he's 19.

But the second pick: Jakub Voracek!! :-o I almost fell out of my chair!

Then the three usual suspects were picked.

Has anybody tried a Fantasy Draft with the new database and got similar result?

After reading this I got interested in testing it and this is how pick 1-3 went:

1. Alexander Ovechkin (St. Louis Blues)
2. Sidney Crosby (New York Rangers)
3. Evgeni Malkin (Calgary Flames)

What settings did you have for your fantasy draft?

I had for budget "use maximum for all" or something like that and "recalculate after draft" on the other.

Not too surprising. In my second season of the challenge, Voracek is ranked extremely high.

I didn't change the default setting. I only made sure it was a 50 round draft (with prospects).

I'm in mid-december for now and some teams are still struggling to stay under the cap so some lineups are really weird. And Stamkos and Voracek so far both have horrible/fair seasons because they mostly play on the fourth line.

I'm with Nashville and because their budget is 44 mil and the cap is 56.8 I probably should have changed the settings to allow me to have a bigger budget. Since I have some highly paid players (Heatley, Getzlaf, Doan, Arnott, Brewer, etc.) I'm at 54 mil I'll probably have a hard time re-signing any pending UFA...

Wow! That's a weird move. Getting a 38 year old player as the 1st overall pick. I guess it's in Detroit's code to favor old players!! :-p
