With heated debates going on in Toronto what is your take on all the proposed ideas and agreements?

Isn't there already Victoria Cup? Or did it die with Champions Hockey League?

Would be great to see this happen if teams take it seriously. Would like to see it played in a series say best of 5. The rules will depend on the home teams ice e.g. NHL at home NHL rules and likewise with KHL. Team to get home advantage in games 1,3 and 5 will depend upon what league's team won the competition the year before. Would like to see this played over the course of a season e.g. games 1 and 2 November, 3 and 4 Feb and 5 in March. Perhaps in Olympic years some sort of compromise could be sorted e.g. one off neutral game or best of 3 instead of 5.

I'm going answer a question with another question -would the Hershey Bears beat the Chicago Blackhawks?

The more realistic comparison would be AHL vs KHL, not NHL vs KHL (yet ;))

AHL teams would get trashed. You're underestimating European teams very badly.

The KHL has 23 teams with rumored talks of expansion to 30 or more teams.

There was a dispute with the Elitserien league and teams: HV 71, Linköpings HC, Färjestads BK, Frölunda HC and Djurgårdens IF. It is rumored that after the 2010-11 season, these teams could possibly join a pan-european league.

Swedish hockey team AIK was made an official offer and initally agreed to join the KHL in 2010-11, but when the Swedish Hockey Federation turned it down, AIK neglected to join.

The proposal by the head of the KHL was that there would be a league with two conferences and four divisions. One conference would be the KHL league teams and the other conference would be made of two divisions, the Scandinavian teams and the Central European teams.

Once and only once they can make a European league would I have any interest in making the Stanley Cup Champion play a 5 or 7 game series.

Until then, the NHL team wins everytime.

A Russian team won the Victoria cup and each final has been tightly fought out. I think if played on NHL rinks the NHL teams would be much better but in larger ice in a not well known place deep in Russia without the luxurious facilities perhaps the NHL has it may be more intimidating.

Not convinced about a Pan European league can't see any other sport it has worked for. Would not shock me though if the Fins and Swedes started working closer together. The DEL is still pretty strong in Germany though the Austrian league includes teams from Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia so out of any of the leagues joining with KHL that would be most likely but not likely.

Would love to see a champions league tournament for European hockey but as a full time league can't see it happening. Maybe there will be one or two rebel teams from Czech Republic or Sweden that go to KHL but not more than that.
