Larry Robinson resigns

Post by hluraven »

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_s ... 545142.stm is a UK link, I'm sure there are better articles written out there.

It will be interesting to see how Lou does combining both jobs

To me this is a real shame, Robinson was a great HoF player and is a really good "hockey guy" who cares about his players in the way that saying he's a Player's Coach isn't a criticsim but a compliment. I have a lot of respect for Robinson. It's a loss for hockey in general.

However, from the above TSN article that starts with "Larry Robinson can't sleep, he's stressed out and has ''pounding headaches'' so severe that sometimes he can't move his head." It seems it might be best for him to not subject himself to the stressors anymore. While some people in this "being macho is the most important thing" world might disagree, it takes more to strength and wisdom to realize when enough is enough instead of ingoring it until you end up giving yourself a heart attack... so I hope Larry gets back to being able to enjoy his family and enjoy all he's accomplished in his playing and coaching career.

I'm really not sure what better qualified candidate they can bring in, I mean this isn't like what the freakin Blackhawks do in throwing any ex-player behind the bench when they've had zero coaching experience (Dirk Graham, Dennis Savard), he has a lot of years as a coach under his belt as well as being on the short list of coaches to win the Cup and the even shorter list to win one as both player and coach... 8-)
