2027-2028 DMHNL Champion

Post by shooter_80 »

The DMHNL would like to say congrats to this years Champion dybbuk as his St. Louis Blues defeated knuckles97's New York Islanders in Game 6 in overtime. It was a hard found series and dybbuk's thoughts on the finals can be read here. The Isles will try once again next season as this is the 2nd time in as many years losing in the finals - last year losing in Game 7 in OT. :-o

Below is a season review written by our Boston Bruins GM, aussiehabit:

The 27-28 season was a season of change for a lot of teams in the league. A couple of big GMs moved over to the East in an attempt to create a balance of power between East and West. How successful will these GMs be with their new team is yet to be seen. Overall, it was a records breaking season for a lot of teams, especially the Ducks. Their highly offensive tactics proved too much for opposition’s defense and they ran away with the president trophy. Other Western teams weren’t far behind as they proved once again that the West still holds an edge in superiority. In the East, the power struggle continues as teams fought neck and neck til the last game of the season to determine their position for the PO.

The high number of goals scored in the West indicates that lack of quality goaltending and elite goalies are such a valuable commodity in the league at the moment. This year’s PO promise to be a high scoring and all out offense for most of the top contenders

Highlights:
- The league leading Ducks and Lighting stayed on top of their conference for most of the season
- Resurgence of the Canes after a disastrous season before
- The Yotes managed to secure a PO spot after a brilliant rebuilding job by veteran GM Moore
- Under the guidance of Cup winning GM Osmond, the Rangers seems to be well ahead of their rebuilding plans, ranked 2nd last in season preview but finished 6th in conference at end of season
- Some teams are stuck in neutral or reverse in some cases and will need to retool again in the off-season. Thrashers, Sens, Capitals, Panthers, Oilers, Sharks and Red Wings
- Blues made some of the biggest trades towards the end of the season. Parted ways with Boris Lawson to acquire assets for present and future
- Tony Simpson broke you know who’s season scoring record with 99 goals. Astonishing!!
- Konstantin Semin broke Dale Raine’s record for most pts in a game with 10pts (3+7) should it be in the record book though Think
