17 October 2010 Update

Post by dabo »

Hello, time for an October update.

I am going to start this update by expressing our happiness of another expansion of the development team. As announced a couple of days ago Forward is our newest member and our third programmer.

Jatahati has finished the database editor (for the data that are relevant at this point) and the research phase is finally underway; so far nations have been added. Jatahati reported states are next on the agenda and after that names and cities can be started on. I believe injuries/illnesses and currencies will be started on shortly as well. If you are interested in helping out but have yet to claim any part of the database look up the research thread at the DHM sub-forum, we are always looking for more people.

While the database is being populated by the community we will get back to the code and continue/start working on some of the fundamental parts. Friday night when everyone else was out partying and having fun we got together and discussed the near future and how to divide work for all three, this is what we came up with:

Forward: Once he has become accustomed to our code he will have a look at the game creator. More details about this will be released later on.

Jatahati: He will start creating the schedule generator. Since it is different how schedules are set up in different leagues we would appreciate if you could go to the league thread at the DHM sub-forum and post how it works mainly in North America (or other leagues with an unusual set up). Is AHL and other lower leagues set up as NHL? back-to-back games, a certain number of games within a division, conference etc.

dabo: I will complete the player creator I started working on a long time ago. I have received plenty of feedback from you the community already so I think I have what I need in order to finish it.

I think that is all, expect progress updates regarding the three tasks above in the next blog entry. Have a pleasant weekend.
