Is this a Joke ?
Dominic Hirsch is the new Predators GM.
As he stepped up onto the podium many reporters and fans were left wondering who is Dominic Hirsch ?
After GM David Poile resigned last month there was numerous candidates to take over and Pierre Mcguire was the favorite. And then this Dominic Hirsch comes out of nowhere. Well this is what we know about Dominic Hirsch. Hirsch was born in Denmark and immigrated to Canada at age 8, he started playing minor hockey at the age of 12 and the highest level of hockey he played was Junior AA for the DDO Vipers.
The DDO vipers produced Angelo Esposito but thats about all the hockey players they've produced. For the past 15 years Hirsch has Coached, he coached Peewee through to midget in DDO with the levels he coached ranging from A to AA and then he spent 3 years with the Lac St-Louis Lions Midget AAA team before moving on to be an assistant coach of the Victoriaville Tigres. He spent the last 3 years as their head coach and GM.
So he's gone from unknown to NHL GM right ? Wrong, Hirsch's Tigres are on the worst QMJHL teams, they have picked 1st overall for 5 straight years and not one of the 1st overall picks have played a game for the team as they have all gone the College route. How can a man who can't get a kid to play Junior hockey be the GM of our Predators ? Fans have already started making a petition calling for Hirsch's resignation.
Here's how the press conference went down.
Reporter #3: Dominic tell us how you what your goal for the franchise is ?
Hirsch: Our long term goal is obviously to win a Stanley cup. Short term we want to strengthen our team and make the playoffs.
Reporter#3: Will their be any problems signing draft picks ?
Hirsch: (Laughs) No there won't well sign our top picks and well get players to come here. When My plan is done players will think of Nashville as a Hockey Mecca.
Reporter #1: What is the Predators most pressing need ?
Hirsch: Our most pressing need in my opinion is a 50 goal scorer. Unfortunately we don't have anyone on the team who can even score 40 let alone 50. Because of our tight budget we can't go out and try to sign one. So we will have to use the draft in order to acquire one.
Reporter#1: Could Alexander Radulov be the missing piece ?
Hirsch: Yes quite possibly, Alex is a family friend of mine, I know him well and while I can't say that he can score 50 goals, 40 is certainly within his reach however Alex has a contract in Russia and he may never come back to NHL but I will certainly talk to him and his agent.
Reporter#2: If Radulov does come back what will his role on the team be ?
Hirsch: Well he would have to fight for a spot but I can see him as a top 6 foward.
Hirsch: That's all for the Questions today. My goal is to build a winner here and I prefer fast and aggressive teams, when I'm done my 5 year plan the team will resemble a team that is fast and aggressive, I build from the net out. With me being born in Denmark I'm a fan of Danish players so we will draft 1 danish player a year and we will be going on tours in Denmark.
And with that the Hirsch era has Begun in Nashville.

Trotz Fired !!!! [13-Feb-2011]
Hirsch Fires Trotz !!
August 31 2006
The Nashville Predators announced today that they have parted ways with Barry Trotz and that they have traded the 2007 1st and 4th round picks to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Mike Fisher.
Hirsch on the Firing of Trotz: Barry has been with the team for a long time but I'm starting a house cleaning and I feel its time for a change, We appreciate what Barry has done for us over the years but I think its time for a change.
Hirsch on Fisher: Mike is a great 2-way player, he's capable of playing 1st line minutes, he can play on the Powerplay and on the penalty kill. He's got a reputation for being a leader in the locker room, and we feel that his veteran presence can help us.
Fisher on joining the preds: I'm excited its exciting coming to Nashville, its a great city, we have a good team and the Predators are a playoff contender. Their system matches my playing style, my wife lives out here so I'm really excited.
