Rotated logos

Post by BlackCats101 »

I have successfuly updated the Manitoba logo in the database, so I know the basics. But does the picture have to be 45 by 45 pixels? Or can you enlarge the badges and rotate them, in the style of this...

45 x 45 is as large as they will go; if you go over it will begin to cut the sides off and only the 45x45 square will display.

So, for logos of that style (just the logos themselves that is) you could do them but the entire area could only be 45x45. A cropped style like that would work you'd just need to be careful to not cut off the right or left sides because then it looks less like a design choice and more like you just used a logo that was too big ;)

I did some experimentation with logos that were substantially wider than they were long by rotating them 45 degrees which allowed them to be substantially larger, but again it's a design decision and people will either like it or not... I figured making a logo as small as they are be seemingly twice the size but being oriented on an angle was a compromise worth making... :dunno:

I've been encouraging Graeme at SI to return to the days of the whole "window" area of the titlepanel being a file that could then be modified as was done with 2004; then the game displays the text on top of that background image. He's said that is something that could be done but if/when it will I dunno. Those were fun projects to work on and you could easily do a titlebar in the style of your example if we regained that ability. 8-)

I'd like to have the full titlebars back just for flexibility; that way you can decide how big you want to make your logos and it gives you more chances for using different styles etc. we do agree on the icon thing though, that's why I've usually been refering to them as "large" logos in quotes cause they really are only large in relation to the games "small" logos which are near unusable they are so darn small and the rectangle is a design nightmare. Hmm, didn't men to get on such a  over the logos but they are tough to design to.
