FaceOff Hockey 2011 Update

It's been a little while since we've posted an update on Wolverine Studios' FaceOff Hockey so here's an overdue update:

Brian Van Wyk over at Wolverine has announced that work is well under way on FoH 2011. The big news for EHM fans (as has been previously reported here) is that the game won't feature and EHM-style career mode this year. In other words, FoH will still be a single season sim like previous versions. This is no doubt disappointing news for those of us who are desperate for a successor to EHM, but we must keep in mind that the game is being worked on by just one person in their spare time. It's understandable that Brian wants to get the core gameplay/simulation perfected before embarking on the career mode (which no doubt will be a huge amount of work).

Most of the under the hood, AI and stability improvements have now been completed and the tools used to generate player ratings and stats are nearing completion. The game speed has been substantially improved and exported files have been decreased from 38mb to approximately 700kb (:-o). Once the player rating and stats generation tools have been completed, Brian will be working on the major new improvements for the 2011 game.

Okay, this isn't an alternative to EHM quite yet, but I encourage everybody to keep and eye on this game. It certainly has future potential as an EHM-style game and is well worth us showing our support for it.
