Today I was on great opening of new arena in Kosice called Steel Arena. Finally after 10 years of many problems the new arena was opened. Huge thanks for lot of support and money is for U.S. Steel which help to build the beatiful arena for 8500 visitors. Even the great Mario Lemieux send us a best wishes a congratulate us The ceremonial was very nice. Finally our city team HC Kosice will have a best place for upcoming play-off (I hope we win )
Looks like I'm gonna be visiting you often if you're gonna be going to watch them! I guess it's only £7 from home to Manc plus probably about a tenner to go watch them

You weren't looking hard enough
The pics are of a stadium in Finland that it is being based on(I think it's the home to the Blues), with a few difference, the Trafford Ice Dome will have seats down both sides and seats behind only one end. It is only a temporary stadium as well I think, although i've not heard of any plans to build a more permanent home.
looks very nice the above link shows picks of the inside of it. Taken before it was completly finished but just about doen when they were taken. looks good and great for European ice hockey to have another another great facility. Get those steel guys over to the UK we need many more facilities like that.
It's so small - especially compared to the good old MEN Arena (about 25,000 seats). I guess they won't be getting attendances much greater than 1000. At least that might make the seats cheaper as they'll want as many people as possible.
With a smaller arena like that, it'll be much easier/more likely to be hit in the face by the puck. I can also imagine the puck bouncing off the roof and into the crowd
Wow Fortune that Arena looks gorgeous, they spent some cash on that thing. How was US Steel invovled? Do they do a lot of business there? I wish they would help contribute to the Penquins new arena seeing how they are/were HQ'd in Pittsburgh. Anyhow congrats that sure is a nice arena!
ironcity57: thanks!
There were many problems with East Slovakian Ironworks so US.Steel buy it and help many people in my city to keep they job. They promise to support also culture a sport in Kosice especially ice-hockey. They really spent many money and we are very happy that we finally have really great arena
Wow the inside of that thing is even nicer! One thing is for sure though I would not drink too many beers if I were sitting in that upper deck, I mean one wrong step and you'd land in the benches! Does'nt look like a bad seat in the house though with it beeing that steep.
All these places are better than where I spend my sunday evenings. Chelmsford don't have many seats so I stand behind the goal. And I guess you guys see your team win occasionally

TBF I don't technically have a team yet not until september anyway..
Tommorow will be the first league match in new arena between Hc Kosice a HKM Zvolen. I have tickets so Im happy to see great hockey match with my father and another 8500 fans
Maybe I bring you some photos
Im back home. We losed our match 3-4 They play just like me in EHM many powerplays = 1 goal, many PK = 4 goals . Its been a poor performance . But we seen some really nice hard hits
That was our retro yerseys.
Last year played in Kosice Jirko Bicek (he won Stanley Cup in 2002-03 with New Jersey Devils) , Martin Cibak (he won Stanley Cup with 2003-04 with Tampa Bay Lightning) and Ladislav Nagy (Phoenix Coyotes)
That goalie is Miroslav Simonovic (many years he played in Kosice and also in Slovakia national team)
When Jirko Bicek won Stanley Cup we celebrate that in main street and I was there
I cant find any photo from that day
