Version 1.2 of the Custom Start Date Patch has now been released! This includes a number of tweaks and fixes; most notably it resolves an issue with the CHL drafts and is now compatible with Windows XP. As far as I'm aware these were the final two major issues with regards to the Patch. The Patch is now ready for full use with the upcoming Manimal v4.0 rosters. You can download the Patch here:

To install the new Patch, simply delete the previous version and replace with the new version.
Here's a full list of the changes:
- Resolved an issue with the Canadian junior league drafts whereby no eligible players were listed in the draft screens and rankings.
- Enabled compatibility with Windows XP.
- Redesigned the user interface so that it is easier to understand.
- Added version detection and additional checks to help troubleshoot difficulties.
- Added an error message if the Patch is used with the CD-ROM edition.
- Replaced readme.txt with a pdf file for ease of reading.
Unfortunately it's looking unlikely that the Patch will be compatible with the CD-ROM edition of the game. The CD-ROM exe runs in a different way (in terms of the data in the RAM) and it is proving extremely difficult to figure out how to successfully change the start date. Although I am able to change the start date, I've been unable to prevent the crashes which I had successfully resolved with the eLicense edition. I will revisit this issue in the near future, but for the time being I need to move on to other tasks. I will find some time to write up exactly what I have found thus far in case anybody else would like to have a try.
One final minor note: I've noticed that the host of the WJC U-20 Div 1 for the first season is not recorded in the competition history. I'll see if I can fix this in the near future.
