Player Info Generator v1.1

Post by archibalduk »

The Player Info Generator creates a new player_info.dat file based upon the player career histories stored in the game’s database. The data stored in this file can be found under the ‘Player Info’ tab in the Pre Game Editor.

It is important to keep the Player Info up to date because it affects aspects of the game such as rookie eligibility, RFA/UFA eligibility, some player records and eligibility for the NCAA. Therefore, each time you add/edit/delete player career histories or if you move players to a new team, you should use this tool to update the Player Info.

The Generator creates Player Info for every member of staff who is either a player or a player/coach. In the Pre Game Editor there is a bug which means that Player Info cannot be added for all players. The Generator fixes this by creating info for every player in the database. Therefore, if you find in the Pre Game Editor that you are unable to add/edit Player Info for a player, use this Generator to update the database and then reload the database in the Pre Game Editor.

The Generator includes a configuration file which allows you to determine which leagues are regarded as professional, Canadian junior, NA major junior, NA junior and NA college. In many cases, the configuration file will be compatible with most databases. However, heavily modified databases (i.e. those where lots of leagues have been modified) may not necessarily be compatible with the configuration file. The Generator includes a compatibility checking function which will help you ensure that the configuration file is compatible with your chosen database.

The sample configuration file included with the Generator is designed for Manimal Rosters v4.1. If you wish to use the configuration file with another database, I highly recommend you first use the compatibility checking function to ensure compatibility. The Readme.pdf file included with the Generator includes further details.

Re: Player Info Generator v1.1

Version 1.1 has now been released and uploaded. Here is the change list:
  • The Generator will now accept any combination of two categories per league (previously one category had to be PRO).
  • Corrected the NA_JNR and NA_MAJOR_JNR categories in the default player_info.cfg file.
  • Updated and corrected information in the readme.pdf file.
I highly recommend removing version 1.0 and replacing with version 1.1 because it has transpired that the leagues we regarded as NA Major Junior were incorrect. We thought this category covered top tier USA junior leagues, but it actually covers the three Canadian major junior leagues.
