I don't know about you guys, but in every single game I play Georges Laroque is by far the most sought after player in the NHL. Every week there seems to be at least three trades involved Laroque on the table.
What's so special about him? I may have to swing a deal and find out for myself. Maybe he'll turn into a 50 goal scorer or something?
Laroque is basically a more offensively talented version of Donald Brashear... so teams that need toughness/defense/leadership not at the cost of offense seem to target him.
From the few Oiler games I manage to watch (darn Leafs blacking out all other NHL games in Toronto) He also seems to be a very hard-worker, doesn't have a bad shift.
He was at one point the most feared tough guy for a couple of years. He is solid defensively, decent offence and can certainly hit. Leadership is good and he plays both wings. I try for him all the time also.
Yeps, im my game there are all the times trades involving guys like Brashear, Laraque, Sean Avery or Chris Neal....and I think its normal because to win u not only need some guys who can score, but also guys who prevent others from score.
...and this big guys are among the best in what they do....hard third/fourth line/checking line guys!!
And by the way, yes I know we are in the "new" NHL, but a good big fight here or there should always be part of the NHL!!...just sad that here in Spain the only time u see something from the NHL is when there is a huge fight between the whole two teams with blood and broken bones...always soccer, soccer and more soccer....
