Logo Pack for Franchise Hockey Manager

Post by archibalduk »

A league and team logo megapack can be downloaded here: http://www.thebreakaway.net/forums/down ... le&id=4989

It contains 97 league logos and 1,334 team logos for all playable teams and a wide range of non-playable teams. The installation instructions are as follows:

1. Assuming you selected the default installation option when installing FHM, go to the following folder: <<My Documents>>\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 2014\data\quickstart_games\Majors.quick\graphics\
2. Optional: Delete the logo_leagues and logo_teams folders.
3. Extract the ZIP file to the abovementioned folder. Ensure that you enable the “Use Folder Names” option in WinZip before extracting.
4. If the files have been extracted correctly, two sub-folders will have been created with the logos in (logo_leagues and logo_teams).

Note that this will only add the logos for newly created saved games. If you want to add the logos to existing saved games, you must also follow the instructions below for each saved game you want to update:

1. Assuming you selected the default installation option when installing FHM, go to the following folder: <<My Documents>>\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 2014\data\saved_games\<<Saved game name>>.lg\graphics\
2. Follow steps 2 – 4 above.

Is FHM going to include D1 NCAA hockey programs (WCHA, CCHA, Hockey East, etc)?

Any word regarding OOTP's file naming scheme? Here's an excerpt of the readme that explains logos:
OOTP Developments wrote:It might contain more info. I.e. the team colors: background, text and secondary colors in RGB code. The file name might look like this:

Cannibals_204102050_210210001_sometext.png.

In this case, the background color will be R = 204, G = 102, B = 050 (RGB as in Red/Green/Blue is a color code used by many imaging programs). The text color will be R=210, G=210, B=001. And the "sometext" will just be ignored.

So now you can just put logo files into the /logos folder with the proper naming, and whenever a team gets the nickname "Cannibals", it will get this logo and colors.

Or you can name the logo file using the complete team name plus nickname and the same colors as the real team has, put it into that folder, and every time when you create a league with that team, it will automatically use the real logo and colors.

I can't say what is or is not featured in the game. However, I would like to add those logos to the mega pack (but it's low on the list).
B. Stinson wrote:Any word regarding OOTP's file naming scheme?
It's different to OOTP 13. It's simply <team name>.png - e.g. new york rangers.png

Thank you! I really appreciate that. I did those logos before the summer and so they are quite likely out of date. I will double-check them.

My guess is no. As with OOTP when you load the logos it automatically resizes them to the different sizes needed. Therefor only one size needs to be created.

No, there's not. This makes like much easier! The game scales the logos to the correct size according to which screen you're viewing.

All you have to worry about is using transparent PNG images that are 150x150 (or at least, if the image is not square, the largest dimension of the image should be 150px). The file naming is simply <team name>.png. Unlike EHM, you don't use underscores to replace spaces. Also, you have to use the correct accented letter (unlike EHM which allows us to omit many of them). Here are the full file naming rules:
  • Unlike EHM, you can use spaces (in other words, don't use underscores to represent spaces).
  • You must use the correct accented letter. E.g. Växjö Lakers HC = växjö lakers hc.png
  • Forward slash '/' is represented using hyphen. E.g. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins = wilkes-barre-scranton penguins.png
  • Apostrophe, speech/quotation mark and colon (i.e. ', " and : ) are simply omitted from the name. E.g. St. John's IceCaps = st. johns icecaps.png
I don't think the game is case sensitive. I always use lower case and it works fine.

I really must get round to posting a full list of the leagues covered. I'm still going through the files and making sure they are correctly named. We have all of the major leagues done - and many many others.

thanks for the answer...but it's shame the logos will be the same type...i like the nhl.com logos but only as small logos, large logos the classic ones and the schedule logos i updated...but that won't be possible in fhm as i understood...anyway looking forward to see those screens, how it will look like...maybe it will look ok just like in football manager...

I'll be working on getting the first version of the logo pack together and finalised as soon as possible. It'll be online ahead of FHM's release so that you can all download it in time for the first beta. :)

I can help with this, if there's any work left to be done. My failed attempt at editing EHM left me with oodles of these logos lying around on my hard-drive so it wouldn't be hard or take particularly long to do.

Sounds good. :)

I'm still working on renaming all of the files and compiling a list of which leagues are covered. As soon as I've finished the list, I'll post it here so that you can see whether you have any logos which I don't have.

TBL Logo Pack for Franchise Hockey Manager

Post by archibalduk »

Version 1.00 of the logo pack is now available for download. Here's the link: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 21&t=10631

Please note that as the game is still in a beta stage and the database is still in development, team names are liable to change. For this reason, there is every chance that following a beta release, team names may have changed and so certain team/league logo filenames may need to be updated.

This logo pack is a work in progress. I will continue to update it as new teams are added to the database and any team names are changed. I also have logos for additional teams that I need to edit and add to the pack (including a number of Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian, Polish, Slovakian, LNAH and NCAA teams) and I plan on adding ACAC and CIS teams (and perhaps others). If anybody finds any missing logos (i.e. where some teams from a league have logos and others don’t) or any low quality logos then please let me know. Please post such information here: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 113&t=9966

Please note that each time you create a new saved game, the team and league logos are added to your saved game. So if you want to update the logos for a particular saved game, you must add the logos not only to the standard FHM folder but also to the folders of each of your saved games. The instructions below explain how to do this.

Installation Instructions

1. Assuming you selected the default installation option when installing FHM, go to the following folder: <<My Documents>>\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 2013\data\quickstart_games\Majors.quick\graphics\

1. Assuming you selected the default installation option when installing FHM, go to the following folder: <<My Documents>>\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 2013\data\saved_games\<<Saved game name>>.lg\graphics\
2. Follow steps 2 – 4 above.

Sebastian posted a useful bit of information about the historic team logos. I think I'll look into adding the historic logos to the pack:
For people who are interested in historical (NHL) logos I want to describe the way FHM handles them:

The graphic should be 150x150, have a transparent background and be saved as png.

Naming: "name nickame_year.png"

The game will take the last logo available and change them automatically between seasons.

Example:

Boston Bruins, starting in 1947. First logo would be "boston bruins_1934", second one "boston bruins_1948" and third one "boston bruins_1949" (just early years). Starting in 1947 the game would import the first one, after the season, before the 1948 season it would change to the second one and one year later the third one. If no newer logo is available it would continue with the third logo forever.

That would be great. Trying to find logos for the lower Finnish leagues has proven to be very difficult (partly because I don't know what they're supposed to look like). We need source logos as large as possible (and ideally a minimum 150px high and/or wide). If you're getting FHM, take a look at the league list when you're playing the game and you'll see which Finnish leagues we need logos for.

Will all the logos be in one folder or will they be organized like in EHM with many subfolders? I personally like subfolders, keeps things more organized. :-)

No I'm afraid not. Just one folder for team logos and another for competition logos. Although I personally think this makes things easier because it means you don't have to rename folders if a league name changes or if a team switches leagues.
