Go Canucks go

Post by NMUTarkkifan »

Well the other teams in trouble cause now we going try we been playing possum with them all night.

After my stint in Winnipeg, I was handed the job of managing the Vancouver Canucks. Amazing it felt like I did not age a year in fact I feel I regressed in time. My goal here is a simple one. Win the Stanley Cup with the only active team not to have their name on the Stanley Cup. I have the talent it should not be that difficult. I have a 3 step program to get it accomplished.

1. Dominate Canada, my first goal is to become Canada’s team by beating every other Canadian team that I face. I want to be hands down the best team in Canada so in the Stanley cup. I will make people forget about the 84 Oliers.
2. Play Old Time new School Hockey. The plan is to play hard we will be fore checking hard we will be back checking hard. We will play hard but we will shoot a lot we will go pace for pace. We will out hit them and we will out play the other team each night.
3. Rotate the goalies and use Depth to advantage. To do the above strategy I will make every one have equal ice team. With the idea that our 4th line can out work there 1st line.

The Team

Goalies
#39 Dan Cloutier – a solid starter not what I want though I will actively see to upgrade this position for the Stanley cup run.
#35 Alexander Auld – Great prospect for the future, he had a good year in Manitoba we want to get him at least 15 percent of the starts.

Defense
# 5 Bryan Allen - The 1st round pick for Vancouver in 1998 he is a solid player that well see plenty of ice time.
# 4 Nolan Baumgartner – Journey man defenseman, while he may not be a All Star he is a solid option that we can use.
# 42 Wade Brookbank – Tall undrafted player that could earn a spot he is not a top priority even though I like the versatility of him.
#55 Ed Jovanoski - The former #1 overall pick has become a staple of the Canucks over the past few years Jovo will have a spot on the roster.
#23 Steve McCarthy – Former 1st round pick. Young player we will try to find time for him he will have to earn a spot though.
#2 Mattias Ohlund – The Swede is a great player that has been a life long Canuck. I can defiantly see him doing enough to earn a roster spot.
#6 Sami Salo – A tough hard working player that I just love to put on the ice.

Forwards
#44 Todd Bertuzzi – A Rough and rugged player that has it all. He has had some problems in the past but he is a good hockey player.
#32 Tyler Bouck – A young player, Tough hard hitting player might be a year or two away from the show.
#22 Anson Carter- The Old Michigan State player, he is all around he will be a second liner we have high hopes for him.
#24 Matt Cooke – Strong forward that has many good attributes will be contending for a starting position.
#17 Ryan Kesler – Former buckeye (try not to hold that against him). May be still a bit to young to be a consistent starter.
#10 Jason King- Another young player that will be fighting for a spot. Good goal scorer, might play 50 games at least.
#16 Trevor Linden – long time veteran player, one of the teams leaders. He may be up there in age but he is still good.
#7 Brendon Morrison- One of our best players all around and fast.
#19 Marcus Naslund – One of the best players in the league do I really need to say much more?
#18 Richard Park – Fast skilled player not the usual toughness. Don’t know how he will work with the team.
#37 Jarkko Ruttu – Tough player that he is a fourth line option.
#33 & #9 Daniel and Henrik Sedin – The Sedin brothers will comprise part of the second line more than likely I feel them and Carter could have great chemistry together.

Canucks get Giggy

General Manager Ethan Allen, got his Goaltender at the expense of some of the board confidence. As the Canucks now have Jean Sebastian Giguere, but the gave up a lot in return Dan Cloutier, Julien Ellis, former first round pick Ryan Kesler, and a second round pick in 2007. They also received a 5th round pick in 2006

The Canucks received Matt Sidall from Atlanta for 6th round pick.

They picked up Mike Santorelli and a 7th round pick from Nashville for a 5th round pick.

They also signed Goaltender Tuomas Tarkki

In other trades

Phoenix got a 4th round pick form San Jose for Mike LeClerc

In a rare move the Vancouver Canucks moved their training camp out of Vancouver and over to Russia. They have decided to tour Russia in hopes that this would help the team bond.

The tour was interesting to say the least we went 2-3. I am uncertain if that is just the Russian teams wanting to knock off the big boys or if we got a series lack of effort form the team. The biggest worry in my mind was how the other goalies did when we had our Starter J.S. Gigure he went 1-1. The other goalies were not impressive at all.

The Canucks will start there season off at home facing the Colorado Avalanche
