They still have to re-sign Campbell who's an RFA. Not looking too bad now. 17 roster players signed and still 8m under the cap.bruins72 wrote:Yup! I really like this deal. I think Horton will benefit from a move to a hockey town like Boston and playing on the wing of a guy like Savard (I really don't see him getting traded, he just re-signed and has a NTC) or Krejci. Also, I'm not too familiar with Campbell but I hear he's a good, hard-nosed grinder who will be a nice fit on the 3rd or 4th line. I'm not thrilled with giving up the 15th overall pick but you have to give up something to get something. I know Wideman turned it on in the playoffs but he was really frustrating at times and was horrible throughout the 09-10 regular season. Shipping out Wideman makes it more likely that the B's re-sign Boychuk and/or Stuart.Danny wrote:Wow this is a great day for the Bruins, Wideman gone, top 6 winger acquired, cap going up by 3m and CBA extended which means there will be a bonus cushion for Seguin/Hall
Now to see if the ship out Thomas. He's been rumored to be a trade priority. He's got an NTC but you've got to think he'd okay a trade to a playoff team rather than be a backup. Once that is done, they've just got to get rid of Ryder and I'll be a happy man.

Good point, Danny. How much did Campbell make last year? I wouldn't expect a huge increase on that. I do want them to re-sign both Stuart and Boychuk too.
I've been hearing all sorts of talk about Savard being aggressively shopped and I think it's just ridiculous, especially the rumors about him being sent to Toronto for Kaberle. No thanks!

Savard, Bergeron, Krejci and soon Seguin. You can't have it all.bruins72 wrote:Good point, Danny. How much did Campbell make last year? I wouldn't expect a huge increase on that. I do want them to re-sign both Stuart and Boychuk too.

There are a lot of teams that need a top center. What about Savard to Calgary for Bouwmeester? Bouwmeester and Horton together again.

Nothing wrong with center depth. And it's not like Bergeron or Seguin can't play wing.
And if you really have to move one you move the 4.5m 3rd liner rather than the 4m 1st liner, given the fact that both have suffered a similar concussion. That would be my logic at least. I don't want either to leave but looking at salary, role on the team and production Bergeron seems the most expendable.

In Phillies he played better than Biron, but head coach didn't give more playing time. Maybe cause of Biron's big salary (bigger salary=better goalieDanny wrote:Yeah but he doesn't fit the most important criteria...being better than Nabokov.Jypfan92 wrote:Antero Niittymäki fits in 2/3 of your arguments. His paycheck is about 1/10 of Nabokovs salary, his 30 (goalie's best years). Hard to compare with Nabokov 'cause Niittymäki hasn't had much changes to show he can do (in NHL).Danny wrote:And where are they gonna find that younger, cheaper and better goalie ? One just got traded to the Blues so the Sharkies missed out there.
He has been choosen Best Goalie in Turin 2006.
Who cares what he did at some 2 week tournament 4 years ago. He's been around long enough to show he's nothing more than a backup at NHL level.

Exactly! You've got it all laid out there. The Bruins will convert Seguin to wing and they'll roll 3 scoring lines.Danny wrote:Nothing wrong with center depth. And it's not like Bergeron or Seguin can't play wing.

Big trade between Chicago and Atlanta ( in terms of players not talent )
Chicago trade Byfuglien, Sopel, Eager and Akim Aliu for the first rounder from the Devils, the second round choice (2010), Reasoner and finally Jeremy Morin.
Well.....kinda sad to see Buff go but Hawks can't probably afford to keep him.
Edit: Trade not confirmed though, still pending.

A person familiar with the negotiations says the Blackhawks and Thrashers are awaiting NHL approval on a multiplayer blockbuster trade that would send Dustin Byfuglien, Brent Sopel and Ben Eager from Stanley Cup champion Chicago to Atlanta.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the trade has not received final approval from the league.
Chicago also would send a prospect to Atlanta and acquire first- and second-round picks in this week's NHL draft as well as forward Marty Reasoner and prospect Jeremy Morin.
The trade helps to clear salary cap space for the Blackhawks and provides more experience for the Thrashers, who have reached the playoffs only once.

It was in Jatkoaika.com, but now i don't see it there anymore. Maybe it was only rumour. The Hutch wrote:Source?Jypfan92 wrote:Sharks acquired rights of Sergei Gonchar from Pens.
I've seen no mention anywhere.
As for Seguin, is it affordable to hold onto their centers in case Seguin's not NHL ready?
Chicago traded Dustin Byfuglien, Brent Sopel, Akim Aliu and Ben Eager to Atlanta for 1st round pick (#24 NJ), 2nd round pick (#54), Marty Reasoner and Jeremy Morin.

Wait a minute, wasn't Bufflin (<-- I spell it like I hear it) the talk of the finals... the big bad tough-guy monster that was supposed to take us down? Now he's being traded like a Joe Schmoe, in an epic dismantling of the Stanley Cup champions.
If you want my warped opinion, I think a Cup win should be taken back if you can't hold 95% of the team together for at least the off-season. This Chicago situation looks really lame.
