You really DO work for the Edmonton Oilers!
Oh come on, the only real bad pick was Nail Yakupov. Even with him, he looked like a great pick at the time. He was putting up great numbers for the Sarnia Sting. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins seems to be afflicted with the Ales Hemsky wasting disease however (ie. he's made of glass); which is such a shame as he was turning into a pretty good two-way player last year.

Darnell Nurse is also looking to be a pretty stud defenseman. He needs some anger management, but I swear to god if they trade him of all people, I will immediately become a Calgary Flames fan. Leon Draisaitl looks like a young Ryan Getzlaf, tbh. I don't know what they plan to do about him and RNH. But he was a solid pick.

As good as McDavid is, last year I hoped we'd trade the pick for a great defenseman or goaltender. I'm hoping they do that this year instead (or at least draft one of the top two D!).

I love the draft. :) It's the Oilers version of the playoffs.

Would love to see my Wings trade for Draisaitl. He is a future star.

Draisaitl for Larkin? :P

I'd hate to see Leon go but Dylan would slot in on that 2nd LW spot under Hall pretty nicely (with RNH). And if Hall decides to run into another corner awkwardly or eat a goal post Dylan would take that #1 spot in a heartbeat.

I would see this all the time in EHM07. I like trading my 1st rounder for two 2nd rounders or a late 1st rounder and a 3rd or something similar; however in this game that is nearly impossible as the AI doesn't see any value in moving up in the draft a few spots and giving me something in return. :dunno:
Really? I found that they tend to value moving up a few spots ridiculously. I had 2 firsts after my first season with the Leafs (fantasy draft), lucked out in the lottery and got the first 2 spots (2nd from last and 9th from last) so I traded down to get the guys I already had my eye on in Laine and Sergachyov and got an extra first (ended up with the 3rd, 9th and 25th pick) a second and Andrew Wennberg out of the deal.

Yep, high first round picks the AI loves. You can stock up very easily by trading down.

But the AI does throw you a lot of 5th, 6th and 7th round picks for your 4th, 5th, or 6th without any incentive to do so. It's weird. But the AI's trades usually don't make any sense to begin with. I'm not sure they ever will.

I wish they hadn't won the lottery that year. Yakupov was the conesensus 1st overall, every team would have taken him. Ryan Murray would have been just fine for the Oilers.

And your assistant GM is pretty much useless for it too. I had an offer of a 3 star goalie (already met his potential and I have a 5 star starter and 4 star for a backup) for Lawson Crouse (3 star current, 5 star PA) and my assistant was all over that. I vetoed his dumb idea, but still.

hi every1
new to the game...playing it last week for 140 hrs :joy:
but while i was reading previous posts no one mentioned "set team needs"
someone also told that you rarely get offers from other teams to trade, but i did get a lot of offers from other AI Gm
most of them are good trade offers.
for example i got 2x 1st round picks for aaron ekblad

I am using the "set team need" for two seasons now, however I never got a trade proposal without being the initiator.
