Re: Eastside Hockey Manager - Wishlist
EHM already has this. You can place the assets you want to acquire in the window, leave your team's window empty, and then ask the other GM what they would want in return for them. I (try to) use it all the time. Sometimes though the AI GM's just aren't going to be interested.
And as nino said, EHM already gives immediate responses when Salary Cap problems or Deadlines are around.

Re: Eastside Hockey Manager - Wishlist
realistically I really think that IRL GM's use phones, not sending letters (apart from final paper work). and they do immediate trades at least twice a year (deadline day and draft day). and trade talks of different kind happening all the time, we just know only about successful ones (those which become trades), everything else goes as "rumors".nino33 wrote:Yeah, even with the further explanations I don't like it myself.....seems very unrealistic unless around Trade Deadline Day
Maybe some GMs based on their personality and/or team needs might give faster responses than others would be OK, but not a universal immediate response
If the other GM is not a "trading GM" and has no need for the players being offered and isn't looking to trade, why would they do all the work for the GM that wants to trade? And why would they ever give up the "final decision" on the trade when they weren't even the ones wanting to trade? I suspect the only benefit is convenience/time saving for some (it's certainly not realistic at all), and for me simulation/realism is the goal to strive for and while of course it can't be perfect I wouldn't want to purposely have something in that's so unrealistic when it doesn't have to be that way
you don't get everything you want. if rival GM don't like offer or don't want to trade he will NOT.
you don't get immediate final decision (unless of course your offer really sweet). you'll wait a day or two for a submit/negotiate letter
and you don't even need to use it, you want to send your offer via mail, just click "offer" button and wait for response.
It's not a "make or break" the game feature. it's not changing in-game trading system. it involves only negotiation process. without altering it. just saves time by placing usual 2or3or5 offer-letters in one screen and one game day
and, no, you don't need to like it

EHM already does the "immediate response" when it's necessary (and Primis pointed out EHM even has the "make this work" functionality) - so what you want already exists, except for the immediate response all the time (which is definitely unrealistic)

Re: Eastside Hockey Manager - Wishlist
even aside from the fact that "inquire" button (mentioned by Primis) not really working, it's still barely comparable with "make this work" functionality.
what I'm trying to explain is there's no negotiation process in EHM. all tools in there are quite "one dimensional". AI not trading. AI just accepts or rejects offers you made. and even if AI will make you a trade offer you can't negotiate, because AI's response to every counteroffer you'll make will be as if it's a new offer made by you.
"make this work" button has nothing to do with "immediate response all the time" (whatever it is).
during negotiations rival GM's will ask you for assets that'll fit his team needs, instead of "give me your best shot" attitude followed by yes/no letter two days later (btw AI assets evaluation can really use an upgrade
).
it's a way to make trading a little bit more flexible. that's why I mentioned it in a "Wishlist" topic.

An "immediate response all the time" means you get an immediate response throughout the year (every day) and not just at the Trade Deadline and the Draft, but all the timeBuho wrote:what I'm trying to explain is there's no negotiation process in EHM. all tools in there are quite "one dimensional". I thought the OOTP make this work function resulted in an immediate response & I thought an immediate response/make this work functionality is what you said you wished for initially (rather than improved negotiation)
Maybe I misunderstood you...

Re: Eastside Hockey Manager - Wishlist
no it's not "deadlineday everyday" mode. you'll still have to wait for your offer to be accepted (or not).
improving (more like "including") negotiation process is just an opportunity to make first offer more precise, and that's will increase probability for it to be accepted. if offer is "bad" or doesn't fit with AI it will not happen. but there's no need to spend time (both in-game days and IRL hours) sending one bad offer after another.
OOTP make this work function is just closest thing to "negotiation process" I could think of, that's why I started from that point. I'm sorry it was misleading.

yeah. but that'll require a serious improvement of AI in every aspect of "team management" (trading, re-signing RFA/UFA etc.).nino33 wrote:From what I've seen, I think "improving (more like "including") the negotiation process" is high on a lot of wish lists
I totally agree that realism should be first and foremost so I think low trading AI is better than "re-mixing the whole league every2seasons AI ". until, at least, AI stop making "crazy rebuild" attempts

Re: Eastside Hockey Manager - Wishlist
First something simple. On the finances page the contact chart only shows the current season and two seasons after that. Ideally it would show 8 seasons total so we can see even the longest of contacts. I believe there is plenty of room for this and it makes future planning of your team a little more easier.
I'd love to see contracts be handed out by a combination of reputation and production. I often see players re-sign or sign for far less than they should. Makes it less realistic. Sometimes it's right on the money of course but because of this when I play as GM for a team I tend to re-sign or sign players based on how much money I think they would get based on their production and rep. The game becomes too easy when don't ever have to deal with caps issues. That's one of my favorite parts is when you're building a team and due to the cap you have to make the tough decisions as to who to keep and who must go.
Another thing I would like to change is league scoring. To me it seems a tad too high. Maybe a %5-10% drop would make it more realistic. Too many players are at least a point a game player when in reality these days only the very elite are PPG players consistently.
The game seems to be scared of older players. Too often a player is not signed do to age when he is still productive. Example Joe Thornton. That guy would have the interest of like a dozen teams but in this game is just goes to free agency a lot never to be seen again.
Another thing i've been asking for for years is a Wild Card Standings.
There seems to be a huge skill gap between the elite goalies and the just the regular goalies. Very rarely do I ever see back ups with decent stats (GAA SV%) unless they are playing on the one of the best if not the best teams in the league. Maybe i'm wrong but even if i'm not there might not even be a way to fix it.
Another thing that I would like looked is goalie performance. Goalies don't seem to get as tired as they should. I feel like I could take any starting goalie in the game and play them all 82 games and they would be fine when in reality there should be penalties for playing your goalie too much. Obviously there is a more likely chance he gets injured of course but other than they I never see a reason to start my backup like ever. Backups are a big part of the NHL but in this game I feel they are more like insurance for when you're goalie gets injured.
I'd love to see advanced stats, and well at the +/- fixed. Last I knew it wasn't always accurate.
Over all improved A.I when it comes to, trades, roster management and line combinations. I sometimes see weird line combinations like having William Nylander playing on the 4th line despite producing. I get these "players" are really only a bunch of 1's and 0's but with a guy with his stats unless it's not producing should always be playing on one of the top lines.
I'd like to see it harder to sign free agents in the off season. When I see a player I want to sign and I decide to put in an offer I land him way more often than I should. This is without offering him more money than he's asking for. I'm not sure if what team you're team rep or how good of a team you are has anything to do with it but i'll often play as the Leafs and they are rebuilding but it seems more often than I get the guy i'm looking for about 1/3rd of the time if not more.
Last thing I would like to be able to look at is past seasons, standings, league leaders and what not.

That would literally kill the realism of the game no? That stuff doesn't happen in real life so I doubt it would be put in the game but it is a wish list so I guess there is nothing wrong with wanting that.

It does happen, but not in a large scale. Sometimes an NHL team might let a European drafted player remain in their team on loan, rather than call them over to play in the AHL.krownroyal83 wrote:Bam_Margera wrote:The ability to loan NHL players overseas (e.g. SHL, Liiga).

Yeah I knew about that, but I more so meant for example a legit top NHL'er going to a European team on loan. That's not something I would want to see put in the game.Tasku wrote:It does happen, but not in a large scale. You could restrict it to players who are not on the NHL roster, but on a NHL contract (maybe restrict it to 2-way-contracts?). Recent expamples from the Edmonton Oilers: Bogdan Yakimov got loaned to the KHL in 2016 (he was in the AHL at that time) and William Lagesson signed his ELC this summer and will spend the first year in the SHL.

Something that I've been asking for that is not in the game is having the team record on each teams main page. So lets say i'm checking out the Leafs page. It would be nice if their current record was right but their name instead of having to click once or twice to get to the standings page to see their record.

-Making the junior affiliate integrated in the club for many European teams. For example in Sweden junior clubs and senior clubs shouldn't be handled as affiliated but as the same club. Looks wrong when i sign Rasmus Dahlin and Frölunda J20 gets the compensation, and it tend to be to many good young players staying forever in the minors even though they are far to good, see Rasmus Dahlin switching between J20 and J18 even after he is picked 1st overall in 2018.
-More dynamic player development throughout the career. Ut seems like with the player role and off/def role set in stone it is hard to make a player adjust their game. since the roles regulates the attributes. It would add another dimension if you could turn an unpolished diamond with good offensive attribute into a two-way beast. Not in all cases but sometimes would be nice and authentic
-Tendencies for foreign players in each league system. FM has this. example from real life is Danish and Norwegian players seeking their way to the Swedish league system when they are too ambitious for playing in their own system. In the game too many good players from small nations still bounces around in domestic minor teams. In FM this is applied as tendencies in each nations edit screen with attribute ranging from 1-20.

Agree with all but on a related note for the bolded part: Have the Senior, U20 (and U18 if possible) national sides come under the same overall team structure, so the GM can hire Head-coaches for each (and coach/select one or all of the teams if they so wish). For UK club-sides though having separate teams at different levels (Elite/NIHL/Junior) is actually more realistic aside from the few teams that 'own' their own feeder/Junior team.Fredlig wrote:-Making the junior affiliate integrated in the club for many European teams. After this weekend, I got to think : would the round robin All Star tournament be possible on EHM ?
