Ok, as far as what I've found out it's a mistake.
I gave Gonchar a "broken leg" injury instead, and now he doesn't retire. He has still not returned to the ice, but is day-to-day.

Apart from that, i think your DB is amazing.
But.. You could work on the 2008 rookies. Versteeg and all the others plays minor. Their current ability are really low.
and Forsberg retires the first day - he hasn't retired yet - he's free agent;)
last thing: teams like bruins and black hawks are so underrated that they suck the bottum

Ferrebo--You say you are happy with the db, after you curse at the man who has put hours, days, weeks and months into it for free. Then...you complain about the database some more. Here is an idea, and all people like you can use it: Fix it the way you want it yourself.

I cannot express enough gratitude for what Lidas has done to keep this game new and interesting. Yep, a rookie like Versteeg is not updated..why? Cause well...he just got good in November.

Yep, Foppa retires. Why? Because if he did not some computer team would sign him (or some manual GMs who like to sign every $7 mill FA and beat the game easily, when all they do really s beat the AI)

Yep, Gonchar was listed with a long term injury. Why? Because he had one. And the Cap structure of the game, would not allow the Pens to have kept Gonchar (or the Devils Brodeur for that matter) without doing the LTI.

Again, you can do with it what you wish, but don't moan about what Lidas does. cause he does a tonne of work. Oh...and BTW that language won'tbe tolerated again. In many ways lucky that I did not see your post before now. It is one of only 2 or 3 major rules we have in this forum...

If you have suggestions great. But don't make it sound like a negative. eventually Lidas or a researcher will catch the db issues, and correct em. IT is NEVER going to be perfect, because players develop and start sucking every day in real life. No way anyone gonna catch up to that unless they edi, release, edit, release a db every single minute.

He's retired already. In fact he's also director of personnel in the game.
The Bruins have a similar problem as they have Cam Neely and Harry Sinden in their unsigned prospects list.
Same thing with Brett Hull of the Dallas Stars.

Drew Doughty is exempt from regular season in the game but the option to send him to the minors is not there.

Finally I saw in the newspapers that Brendan Shanahan was signing with the Devils.

I think some of these guys you can't send them back down to their farm team right away. I think you have to wait until training camp or something like that. I don't know why but I've seen it in my games in the past.

Lidas, I love your roster and wanted to ask if I could help you with some research.

How much info do you need on a league to be able to update it properly? I was thinking of gathering some info on some of the Junior A leagues like the OJHL, GOJHL, BCHL, AJHL, Quebec Junior AAA, USHL, EJHL etc. Maybe not all of them but some. I'd like to see at least a few of these leagues updated, especially since that would provide some more future college and even Major Junior players. Since some of the major junior leagues and even college freshmen aren't updated I know this wouldn't be too high on the priority list. Would it fit at all?

All the information I could provide would be to collect whats freely available on the web rosters with Names, DOB's, Ht, WT, and position (sometimes the sites only list players as F instead of C, RW. LW), and stats. Would that be helpful to you at all? I don't think it would be hugely important to get the ratings perfect, maybe just to actually have the names, dob, position and a - potential for each player, no numbers, current abilities or anything like that. Would you use the info if I was to collect some of it? Let me know

I dont really want to focus too much on creating players in unplayable leagues. Its just too time-consuming, and since we will not encounter most of the players in our games, it will me more of a cosmetical update. Of course, if there are any future stars you know of, just send me the data, or post it here, and I will add them to the DB. / Lidas

Lidas--Not really sure if this is an issue with the db. However, I just came across a player in 1.1...Zack Kassian. He is 17 years old, and undrafted at the start of the game. On December 26...the New York Rangers offered him a contract. I only know this because i had him scouted and shortlisted for the draft.

No one should be able to offer him a deal yet, as he is only actually eligible for the upcoming draft. I wonder if this is happening with more than the one kid.

Sorry, but I dont keep logs of who I create. As for the 2009 draftees, I have used this page, and the links to other leagues. I have also visited the official homepages of all the teams in the leagues I have updated and created the missing players. I hope you find the link useful.

I have no idea. At first I saw that they didn't have the birth year in the editor but I could still sign Fournier after I changed that.
Lidas, when you added the players into the database did you just add a new player or did you overwrite an old one?

I'm currently updating DEL, so I already have him in Frankfurt in my version.

Rob Blake always gets waived from the Sharks as well, it may be more realistic to raise the salary cap so no team is under it than letting players like Khabibulin, Rob Blake, ect.. get waived/traded as soon as the season starts). (Just a suggestion to those who want a little more realism rather than Lidas).
I'll stick with the real cap.

Donald Sanderson (Whitby Dunlops) is deceased, he was the player that died from hitting his head on the ice this season.

Ovechkin should have Malkin added to Disliked. His ratings are also too low. Flair, Slapshot, Movement should all be 20's, while dirtyness increased for his intentional leaving his feat for hits. Hitting/Checking should be increased, while teamwork lowered as he doesn't pass, simply shoots.
I had already changed their relationship. Worked a bit on the attributes. Thanks for your input/ Lidas

I have no idea. At first I saw that they didn't have the birth year in the editor but I could still sign Fournier after I changed that.
Lidas, when you added the players into the database did you just add a new player or did you overwrite an old one?

I'm currently only overwriting players, but I have no idea who I overwrote to add Fournier.
