This is something i wish i could do with EHM...Collective Bargaining Agreement [CBA] rule changes.
-ability to change rookie contract - say from 3 years to 4 (there's talk they might be doing that within the next couple years)
-ability to change age for draft eligle players. (so have a league age minimun similar to ootp)
-draft rights expiration customization..
stuff like that i guess. OOTP does a great job allowing each user to change the rules to whatever they like.
how about having some type of calulator that calculates the average salary would be a cool feature, but probably low on the priortity list. And giving the use the ability to change that value
EDIT: http://proicehockey.about.com/od/thenew ... p_expl.htm - that link might be helpful

I don't want to derail the authors of this game, but I always thought this would be awesome.Manimal wrote:Can you make it so that when you take over a team you only sign on for a certain number of years and then have to negotiate your own contract?
NHL GM TYCOON -- with scenarios like CIV II or Sim City.
Goals? There could be several. Most cups. Most salary commanded. Highest prestige. Key to a City. Order of Canada. What ever.
Two other things about EHM.
A) I always thought it was stupid that GMs did all the negotiating. In real life, sometimes, the players (both current roster guys and UFAs) approach teams.
B) More interaction with the media. I shouldn't have to wait for a story to come out to comment on a player. I should be able to pick up the phone and call the local beat writer whenever the heck I want.
One, I want more power to praise a player. Two, More power to humiliate him!

C) I said two things, but here's a third. Most NHL teams have the ability to hire and fire coaches or at least heavily influence coach decisions in the AHL. I think we need to be able to have an option where we can set lines/training in the AHL (without having to create a new GM)
4) And secondly, 30-man online leagues is a must, IMO.
These are just some ideas ...

Atm I am implementing some game states (player profile, roster screen etc.) then I will add some random data into the database and try to load it into the game. If everything goes according to plans I will then add one league and some teams and try to write a basic game simulator (random scores) in order to try the league standings, player statistics states etc.
The database is not completely done yet but I believe I have enough in order to do the first step of the implementation.

It would take years to create a game like NHL:EHM from scratch when only one person is doing it on his spare time. Most likely there will be a bunch of releases out just for testing purposes before you can play something remotely like NHL:EHM. Of course I could rush things but I want to do things properly otherwise there will be a bigger chance of things biting me in the ass later.
As I have written earlier, the first thing I will do is create a fake league, fake teams and players and do some basic simulating with a limited set of rules.

Well you saw how far Riz got in a number of years with EHM Freeware. Clearly with one person working on the game part-time it would take forever to get to an advanced game like EHM 2007.dabo wrote:It would take years to create a game like NHL:EHM from scratch when only one person is doing it on his spare time. You should use the NHL rosters and attributes from Lidas Rosters for your testing. This will help you evaluate how successful your simulation is.

one more thing i'd like to request is having the boxscores say the way the player scored. The official NHL site does that for their boxscores and it just gives you a better idea of how the player scored. (they use: Wristshot, slapshot, snapshot, backhand, tip-in etc)
It would also be cool if we could search through those stats in the leaderboards - most league/team Wristshot goals, tip-in goals etc etc.

03:34 - STL -Eric Brewer (6) -Wrist Shot - Assists: T. Oshie (22) & D. Backes (19)
