Skating 2 miles per hour in a non dangerous place and a love tap vs a two handed shove in a dangerous place on the ice. And with the player being aware and ready for it (Ovi in Crosby push) vs a player not aware what was coming at 20 miles per hour. Wow--that is soooo comparable. And you know what...should have been a minor for roughing. And Ovi too.
Apples and Oranges...wow.
And please do not think I love Crosby and hate Ovechkin...so not true. In fact, if I am completely honest I love both of them. They play two totally different types of games, and I still have a hard time understanding how they can be compared in almost any way....totally different players.
Kids these days...

Yes it is, as Batdad was saying. I just forgot to write it in my post.McQwak wrote:Tha fact is that those hits were on open ice and the Ovy's one was near the board. Maybe that's the logicHard to guess

I was thinking about this but I didn't write anything about that. Did someone see Lapierre suspension after the Olympics? Same as Ovi, near the board...but more slower than the one with Ovi/Campbell. Lapierre, 4 games and Ovi 2 games.....Personnaly I think that Lapierre wasn't deserve a suspension like this but you can cleary see what the status of superstar mean.

Oh and Campbell got a broken collarbone (

Lapi--Directly from behind. Real bad. Real bad. But yes, Ovi could have got more than him...no question.
And how does a team that is what 25 points ahead of Ottawa having a player get suspended for 2 games help Ottawa? Especially when the two games he misses are Florida and Carolina?
To me all it does is give 1/2 a chance to Florida and Carolina get 2 points. That makes absolutely zero sense. Should I be surprised?

SO now it is a bad push? What? A few minutes ago you said 2 games was too much of a suspension. I just don't get you. Between that and the Ottawa being helped by Ovechkin being out 2 games you are proving what you know

At least it was a suspension that the league finally make ''reasonnable''. Still ( I'm not a fan of Lapi, I hate this guy so much ) he was at is really first infraction, so I was surprise by the 4 games. I can bring back the fact that Cooke asn't been suspended and he already done others things, but this is just an endless conversation....the NHL is mess up.

Yep. and hopefully next year the new rule will help change that. There is talk they are maybe trying to push it into place for the playoffs.
And come on...Matt Cooke is just misunderstood. Heh. Kidding...kidding. He is a prick and maybe Campbell did not suspend him so he could go to the game on Thursday and watch Matt get the heck kicked out of him by Lucic and Thornton.

You just made me LOL.DJP19 wrote:I should be happy that Ovechkin got suspended. Now if he makes another infraction than he could be out even longer. THis all helps the Senators and their quest for Lord Stanley's Cup.

But also Savard is gone for the year, so I'm not really buying into the Campbell injury makes the suspension reasonable.
At least in terms of dealing with discipline, the NHL has been consistent...consistently bad that is!

I see what you're saying, but regardless of the circumstances around each incident, the league has still sent an alarmingly irrational message thus far: Smash a man's head all you want, but don't you dare shove him near the boards.batdad wrote:Stinson--Ovenchicken 's hit is not worse than Cooke's, nor is it worse than Richards. It is just different in 2 ways, which lead to suspension.
1. A different place on the ice. The player making the hit must be more aware of what he is doing and where he is, just as the player taking the hit must be. Campbell not expecting a hit, because Ovi not in position to deliver a body check...
2. Ovenchicken's "hit" is not a HIT. It is a push. In both the cases of Richards and Cooke the main part of the body that makes contact is the shoulder. Yes..Cooke followed through with the elbow, and I believe I said should be suspended for that. Richards...clean hit by the rules as they stand now. In the future...not so much.

Yep. You are right Stinson. Unfortunately shoulder to head hits have been part of the game forever. The league is only now getting around to ruling against those type of hits and putting a rule in place. I really hope that nothing else happens until they get that rule in there....but I bet it will. Tomorrow maybe.
Don't get me wrong head shots are bad. I took a couple ( I know explains alot)...but they were not nearly as bad as they are now with the gear the guys have on their shoulders. They all have deadly shoulder caps. These have to go as well..but won't. Yet. Until it is proven the rule does not stop the hits. Which it won't...it will slow them down in number but not actually stop them.
But I do disagree .. Ovenchickens shove at the speed they were going at the place on the ice it occured...is just as bad as a head shot..and Campbell's injuries prove it.

Guess who will be there at the game Bruins-Pens tonight? Mr.Campbell!! He wants to be there to see if everything will be ok and nothing bad will happen.
Since two days, alot of check from behind!!
Yesterday, Kotalik hit a player from behind and Goligoski been hit from behind. Two days ago Alfredsson hit Beauchemin from behind. They were not dangerous hit, but it's still hits from behind. Some of you have certainly seen that monstrous charging from Wisniewski to Seabrook? darn that I've never seen a player fall like this since a loooong time, the last one was Kapanen hit by Tucker.
I don't know if it's deserve a suspension though.

It's here. Really breathtaking hit. The whole match was nervous and there was fight after empty netter.philou21 wrote:Some of you have certainly seen that monstrous charging from Wisniewski to Seabrook? darn that I've never seen a player fall like this since a loooong time, the last one was Kapanen hit by Tucker.I don't know if it's deserve a suspension though.
I think it was ugly because Seabrook did not play the puck. On the other side, he had missed Perry's head before that hit, so it's tied. At least Wisniewski didn't aim for his head.
